I have been designing radar for many years and struggled to follow this presentation. The presentation was very clear at the beginning, but quickly becomes confusing jumping from complex topic to complex topic without clearly explaining the connection.

Sehr interessanter Vortrag!

continuous radar or pulsed? which one is better?
@FraunhoferFHR2 жыл бұрын
That is a question with no clear answer, since both systems have their benefits. CW Systems typically require less power, are more lightweight and are widespread for example in the automotive context. Pulsed systems require a large transmit power, but with this, they often give a better SNR and are used especially in long-range applications, like air traffic surveillance. This is just one point when comparing both principles and the decision which system is used depends on the requirements that must be fulfilled.

@FraunhoferFHR2 жыл бұрын

@FraunhoferFHR2 жыл бұрын

Hi!! I really appreciate your work. I have to do a matlab application about how neural networks are functioning in ambiguity function of radar. You know something about this?
@FraunhoferFHR3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the question. It depends what you want to do with the ambiguity function of the radar. If you want to use it to classify the waveform, the paper "Ambiguity Function Based Radar Waveform Classification and Unsupervised Adaptation using Deep CNN Models" by Pavel Itkin and Nadav Levanon might be a good starting point.

@FraunhoferFHR3 жыл бұрын

Fantastic radar tech! 2 cm detection is incredible. Wondering from an EHS perspective, what type /level of safety standards are internally followed. Also wondering what frequency this operates at (if i heard that correctly). So curious...wish I could get a tour!!! FHR, there's a raffle idea, just include foreigners please. 😆
@FraunhoferFHR4 жыл бұрын
Thanks! The radiation exposure is far below the permissible limits, even in the TIRA building. Everything is safe. As the name implies, the TIRA system comprises a tracking radar and an imaging radar. The narrowband, fully coherent, high power tracking radar has a transmission frequency in L-band (1,333 GHz) and the wideband imaging radar has a transmission frequency in Ku-band (16.7 GHz) and is currently equipped with a high target resolution. For more Info: www.fhr.fraunhofer.de/en/the-institute/technical-equipment/Space-observation-radar-TIRA.html At the moment we have different online series. In English language we have "Radar in Action". On 15.12.2020 we have a presentation and tour in TIRA.
