Garrett came to me with the idea to cover this song and I offered to produce it for free. I’d always wanted to work with him, and it was an exciting opportunity. He was a legend in the Utah music scene. Tbh I was irritated with his absolute perfectionism at the time. What I thought would be a quick session or two, turned into a multi week job. He was so hard on himself. He kept coming back to the studio to open the project up and make minor changes. We spent many late nights trying out new ideas. The universe works in mysterious ways. I didn’t understand at the time, why I felt compelled to not charge him anything for this recording. In hindsight, I’m so grateful that I got to create this work of art with him. It was the last time I saw him in person. I hope you’re at rest wherever you are now, old friend. Thanks for trusting me with this song.

I'm proud to say I'm Garrett's mom. Thank you for this treasure. In a couple of days, it will be 4 years since we lost him. Today I find myself memorized by this video. His angel voice and beautiful face. Thanks for producing it and to River for the video. I can't hug Garrett, but if I ever get the chance, I'd love to hug you!

I had no idea that you have passed. It's been a long time since I've listened to this song because of its availability on other platforms. I just want to let his family know how much he has impacted. Beautiful powerful vocals he has and he truly would have been on of the greats. He is in my opinion. Rest in Peace Garrett.

i remember always feeling so low and so sad back then that it felt like i wasnt ever going to ever be happy again. I never knew or felt like i would still be here today.. i used to listen to this so much … After years of therapy and self reflection ive learned how to bring happiness by myself.. And im forever grateful for this track So chilling listening to the lyrics and realizing that Garrett took his own life… RIP💔❤️🩹

Happiness feels like a memory, A foreign feeling that you used to know. Where did the light go? I've grown too comfortable. Stuck at the bottom of this hopeless hole. Don't let go. You lost a battle, But you haven't lost the war. Don't let go, You still have hope. The sun always rises when you look ahead, The sun always rises when you look ahead of you. Don't try and solve a temporary problem With a permanent solution. When you feel like there's no one left to fight for, Look in the mirror and fight for yourself. Don't let go. You lost a battle, But you haven't lost the war. Don't let go, You still have hope. The sun always rises when you look ahead, The sun always rises when you look ahead of you. You lost a battle but you haven't lost the war, You still have hope. The sun always rises when you look ahead, The sun always rises when you look ahead of you. When all you know is falling down around you don't let go, And fight for yourself.
