Man, you have inspired to go and try this. I'm sure it will be a tough and rough go but I'm going to try it. Thanks for the great video

78mm is not 3 inches. This is not a UK legal knife which requires a maximum 76.2mm of cutting edge. There is a mini version of this knife that is UK legal or you can grind a few mm off this knife.

Hi Frank, Cornwall in the South West of the UK, quite a beautiful rural place surrounded by coastline and beaches, a place I'm happy to call home.

I agree. Transfer that initial ember to more char cloth. I find it easy to make char cloth and always have a good supply of it. It just makes things easier. Thank You.

I have a Mini Peasant. It's a Roman Peasant knife made in New Zealand from a high-carbon Swedish tool steel called Sanvik L7 that Svord uses with a proprietary tempering formula to create an outstanding blade at a crazy cheap price. Svord makes their money from selling lots of knives instead of selling fewer at a larger profit. I filed that point off the back of the handle. It's a great EDC and you can drop it and so what? It's tough and inexpensive and perfect for what it is, a great blade that holds an edge EXTREMELY well with the most simple handle design and being able to grab that tang as you reach into your pocket is something you get used to right away.

Thats the thing, this is very important, I've learned with powertools (bench grinders) is that safety is extremely important. And many people are too prideful and macho to use assistance such as this "sissy stick" but if you chop your fingers in the forest you wont be so tough having to sew your finger back on when you're by yourself. Sure people probably have done it, but why go through that hassle and the pain?

Interesting. I guess at that speed, it would be tricky to use it on a river that's moving at a moderate pace unless you plan on only going in one direction. :D

Oh, I see what you did there. You are making a bowl with the hatchet, but, you specifically don’t state that you use the hatchet to carve the entire bowl. Very clever. Speaking of someone who does a lot of carving with a hatchet, gouges, sloyd knives and hook knives for making bowls, spoons and other things, there is no way you carved that entire bowl with a hatchet.
