With the drum78 firmware, you can press select and A to press X. Select and B is Y. Pretty decent compromise as fast-paced games are not for these keychain consoles.

The screen it came with. Didn't build this from parts myself, but I have seen motherboards being sold by themselves. So I imagine you can piece it together if you want to. It's 3.2 inches and the largest display I have seen in a Gameboy Advance shell. Not sure where they source the glass lens for it either. You would also need two 14500 cells(same size as AA but lithium 3.7v) in parallel to use as a power source without modifying the back shell.

It sure is! I am planning to do a teardown on video to show what kind of screen this uses and what kind of battery is needed to make this thing work. You can only pick up the motherboards right now, so it won't be for people new to modding until they restock on completed units. Trying to communicate to the seller will report back if I get any updates on stock.

I had to send it in, just contact steam support and ask for an RMA process for this issue, they should help.

Check retroarch settings for input settings. I typically open the retroarch app itself and do the changed and save the config where it will be a global change. You are looking for Settings>Input>Retropad binds>Port 1 Controls>Analog to digital type>set to Left analog That will make the analog act like the dpad in games where dpad is all there is.

@Johntriger problem is i did that but it still won't enable my analog stick to be used as a d-pad

Do you have overrides enabled for Yoshi Island or snes itself, maybe? Open Retro arch settings when you have it open and see if the input is set correctly for the joystick as described in the previous message. Also, does it work anywhere? Could have a bad joystick. This console is weird and doesn't work with any hal effect sticks. Check with the joystick calibration app/setting

@@Johntriger it worked on n64 or any other console that has analog sticks. It just did not work with d-pad only games. But I figured it out. I used mGBA as GBA core. Setting it to left or right did not work. On gpSP setting it to left did not work. But setting it to right did work for some reason haha

Yeah, it's not for everyone. I have a couple of these, so I have one that is normal that i can pop my SD card into to play stuff like stardew valley that uses the back triggers.

@@Johntriger this stl is good but imho it's half way done . Without L2 and R2 is useless and I don't know enough cad to make these in a timely fashion and the person who made it , did. He was just lazy and probably never got to use the mod ever.

Might be useless to you, I really enjoy them. R2 and L2 are not that important to me, but I can see why you might want them. This design does limit the consoles you can play. You or someone else will have to modify or make a new design to retain those middle buttons. Everything I used to make my rgb20sx backplate design was free, mainly used shapr3d and auto desk fusion 360 basic versions, so they are low poly and not perfect. I have playtested them both quite a bit. The v10 is great for gba. I modified the v10 flatbackplate as I found the NLD Design Shop version to be sharp and difficult to press the L and R buttons. The 20sx backplaye I made myself and have printed so many different designs that I need a new 20sx as the screws don't want to hold anymore. Still my favorite way to play snes and gb/gbc love the built in wifi for synching on that one. It is very much not a finished product but one that I have shared free to download. I am learning how to use cad just to mess with these consoles to try and make my favorite one. Never to late to learn.

@paulyong1494 I use Rocknix, and maybe that has a different charging setup. You can pull the SD card and see if the battery icon appears big white battery. Will show in mah charging rate. It is built into the system, so no os needed. I have a custom battery in mine, and it charges up all the way and discharges all the way like it should.

I recommend using a spare SD card and trying it first. You will need a wifi dongle unless you know how to transfer roms via a USB drive and the built-in file manager over otg. The Wifi dongle is easiest as that's how I set up all my rocknix installs. SMB file transfer works pretty great. KZbin is bad enough. I don't do reddit anymore, but keep me updated. You have let it die all the way a few times, right? Sometimes, these linux os will be a bit off until you do that. Mine used to play for 2-3 hours at 0% when I first got it.

@@Johntriger I didnt know that the battery need to be completely drained a few times..will try out this method first instead before flashing rocknix..never had these problems with my anbernic devices

They are a great price at $40 I have a few I tend to play the normal one at home and just transfer the SD card to this one for on the go play. You can buy two for the price of a trimui brick that has a nicer screen and should be coming out soon.

Had to pull the backplate off and use some double sided sticky tape to stick them into the bumps as they are empty. Might end up using some molding putty or something but they have not come loose yet. Soldered them directly to the existing rumble motor pads. If you use Xbox one trigger rumble motors they are a perfect fit. Grey to white and black to black. Might add a resistor or something to reduce the strength but it definitely reminds me of my gamecube controller now.

@@Johntriger interesting! So the rumble is triggered normally by like say PS1 games and some GBA games with rumble? And isn't like other rumble motors that uses stuff like sound or button press

Yeah it acts just like normal but with more umph. Technically it's android so if you have the feature turned on it vibrates with typing as well. But works as normal in gba (poke pinball drill dozer)and ps1 and this example I am playing gamecube and it works great. Can even play some ps2 with this console. Works there as well.

@JonathanJackson-tn4xw yeah they use the exact some rumble motor in the rgcube. The sp is a bit tight on the inside you might find some space for some micro rc drone plane motors to fit with something on the end of the gear to make it lop sided to rumble. Something better than these stock tiny little rumble coincells looking things.

After booting a game up you can then eject the SD card to make it boot faster the next time. It bypasses the menu completely. Once the game is loaded it no longer is reading or writing to the SD card. Saves are moved to SD card from flash the next time you load a different game. So you won't loose any save data doing this workaround.

@ClosestNearUtopia just the stock card. You have to be on firmware 1.0.8 or lower for this gamecolorgb card to work.

@@kokas466 When did you buy it? You can contact anbernic for a replacement shell and they might send you one, but who knows how long they will do that for. Shouldn't happen so soon. Joey from Joey's Retro Handhelds tested the latest version and it felt the same so it will probably happen to the new colors eventually too. Need to put a weaker hinge mechanism in the design to prevent this kind of failure. Too much torque on the plastic hinge. Is it happening to the left side first like in my video? Usuallt the split starts where I show it.

Yeah I have the same feelings, haven't asked for replacement until I see some changes happen. Was it the left side that split? This is the same abs plastic that the gba sp was made of. Pretty sure its just because of the stiffer hinge they used since the screen is bigger and heavier than and SP. But they kept the same size plastic hinge so it snaps under use due to being far to stiff.

@@Johntriger it' actually both sides, but the worst is the right one, it's actually opened at this point, the left one has cracks but they are not opened yet

It does not get super bright, but bright enough to play indoors and in shade outdoors. Wish I had a way to measure how bright screens get. I have a comparison in my latest video showing it at max brightness next to a magicx mini and an Miyoo a30. Definitely brighter than my gba SP haha.

@@antwango yeah it's a 2.8inch device pretty compact some reason it's screen seems bigger than the miyoo a30 but it should be the same. I have a v4 Miyoo Mini that just arrived about to set it up and see how it is. It wasn't released this year and doesn't have wifi but is pretty small for a vertical handheld. I had the original but wanted to see how this updated screen looks like with gba.

Thanks for the suggestions! The Lcs3x shader is pretty great with the simple color controls to boost saturation and contrast after setting gba color correction on. The grid gives it that og GBA feel. Really digging how it looks. You can rock no color fix but I find the v10 to lack saturation on rocknix.

You can play most older systems on it if you use filters to compensate for distorted pixels in some higher end stuff due to resolution limits. The screen is optimized for 2x GBA scaled I mainly play that, I also play GB,GBC,NGPC, and Portmaster on it. This little console can play up to ps1 and some psp/n64. My favorite Portmaster Game is Stardew Valley it is a bit choppy, a little worse than the switch release. But overall playable and remember it is the desktop version instead of the console version so that's impressive it runs as good as it does . I might make a video on Rocknix/Jelos as I prefer it to the stock ArkOS but it requires a wifi dongle to setup and sync your saves if you want to.

Smallest way to play Stardew Valley, The Beta for Rocknix is pretty good so far you have to download it from their discord.I am looking forward to the next update where its officially supported and just on their release page.

Dang do I really not have a video up showing how I did this? I've long since sold this Dsi so I'll have to wait till I get another good candidate. You can find some guides online, but its a bit more complicated than a dsixl. Same resistor size though. Pretty sure it's 330ohm 1/4watt but I would double check to make sure. I have used higher around 470ohm but you will run into issues being able to lower brightness if you do. One thing cool about dsi is you can hold select and press the volume keys to adjust brightness. Wish there was a hotkey on dslite like that.

Yeah, I figure they will send a shell replacement if i ask nicely. Another commenter has been through 3, so I was hoping to wait a little while until they sort the hinge stiffness issue. I see they have released some new colors with an updated button feel. I'll have to try contacting them and see if there are any hinge updates.

It's not a bad idea, but it would require some heavy modding due to placement of the top screw spots. Would be interesting to see.
