Well there is some KZbinrs (influencers) wich gives me the impression that you can pay them to say anything you want them to say! Or they have some sort of sponsorships that makes them biased. We probably all remember the AT Omnis Duo first look "reviews", and that ridiculous priced Wave-Eight speaker that no one speaks about anymore because it had a silly softdome tweeter almost un-protected in the horn and was ugly as hell so only a fool would use it at a ceremony....those 2 AT product they couldnt praise enough. And we all know that the Everse8 is the king of ceremony speakers category. I´ve unsub´ed most of those KZbinrs. The one Lou speaks about probably got pissed because he wasn´t invited to NAMM to do a first video review/release on youtube, but to be honest I think EV did the right thing giving that to Joe Bunn he has been a loyal "EV fanboy" :-) for many years, and just like Justin the DJ was first with QSC KC12 he has draged around QSC tops+18"subs for a lot of gigs so fair he was first with new QSC speakers. Those youtubers who think they can jump around one month want to buy two Everse12 and next month Wave-Eight is "THE BEST" simply loose credibility in the long run. The new Evolve 70 and 90 is a "fresh breath" in the column array speaker category, I also like 3 way more and I run RCF tops+subs, but NOT a "RCF-fanboy", but I think competition between the brands gives us all the best bang for the $$$, so I welcome both QSC´s and EV´s new column arrays and have to admit that Evox is OLD and RCF RD-divison must be fallen a sleep since nothing new comes to their column arrays, come on RCF 90degree dispersion on the Evox12 :-( thats less than the NX-910 2way top with 100dg. Btw do you need a 12" sub for ceremony? No probably not. Dont you need VOCAL CLARITY at a ceremony? Yes IMO look at this video an see what speaker the DJ (and agiprodj) recommends you for ceremony and even praises "the wide dispersion pattern", "the fuller sound" etc: a 2way column array ............... and 5years later same dj use "tops on top of a stand" himself, so you have a standpoint untill you ......get a new sponsor or what ? kzbin.info/www/bejne/mp_Vip6OpMpgopo

By comparison, I didn’t watch the review by the other content creator. By being in the industry as long as I have. Without hearing one particular speaker, a 3-way is better than a two way. Easier to EQ, doesn’t drive your amps as hard. But like I always say, if people are hiring you & you’re getting paid, it’s a win. What state are you in? There is a cabinet builder that I can recommend, that will get your sound right.
@djlouparis2 күн бұрын
I’ve been DJing since 1988 and know sound well. I am also a founder of Harvest of Sound and run the speaker shootout there. I’m not saying that the 3 way does not have advantages. I say this in my video. But to make claims that he can’t DJ on a 2-way, the mic issue, and that a speaker will perform better than another without hearing it are all hyperbolic claims.

Problems are more about getting signal thru walls and when I mean walls, it’s thick castle walls like we have a lot of venues in castles in France :-) I haven’t have to test this use case since I’ve got the Omni antenna last year and for piece of mind, I should do a test in our church with IEM transmitter inside and receivers outside. But the antenna is a life changer. I set it up on a straight K&M mic stand and even with receivers down to the base of speakers, I’ve never encountered a single sound drop since then, even with lots of people in the room and speakers far away. If you plan on getting a IEM system, no matter which brand, consider the antenna in the budget. We’ll see how the future Sennheiser digital IEM system performs without antenna when it comes out, as we all know that Lou will be one of the first to try it out 😊

Thanks for taking the time to make this video and for answering questions in the comments! I have a slightly different setup with the UI16 and hoping you can help me; My goal is to not use the UI16's hotspot, or the LAN options, and instead use the wifi setting where it is connected to my home internet's network and then from any device using my home network's wifi, I can access and control the UI16 from a browser (While still maintaining the internet on that device). Is this possible? I've spent several hours trying to get it to work, but couldn't. I have the Gateway and submask entered which I believe are correct, and I also have the username and password entered for my home internet wifi, wich is correct. The only one I'm not sure of is the IP. I've tried about 5 different IP options by changing the end number and keeping the rest like the gateway IP, then powering off/on the device, but when going to the browser and typing in the IP, it doesn't load the control panel, unfortunately, so I"m stuck and don't know how to resolve it. Any ideas? Will buying an external router as you're setting up in this video solve this issue and allow me to ALSO have internet on the device that's connected to the UI? Or is the entire purpose of the external router that you're sitting up only to extend the wifi signal? Thanks so much!!

Hi, Im interested in purchase this unit and I’m hesitant because it’s been some time since it was released and I’m worried about how much updates and support will it have for how many years to come. This tells me that they’re still supporting the unit, however, do you think it is still a good purchase in 2024? I’ve seen a newer Allen and Heath option released just 1 year ago, but it doesn’t have real subgroups. So I’m thinking which might be the best option in 2024 and how much life the ui24r has ahead? Thanks in advance!
@djlouparis4 ай бұрын
A very valid concern. I suspect this will be continued to be supported for some time likely longer than the ui12/16. I still think it’s an outstanding value. A&H is a great piece of kit but I also think it’s not as feature rich as the Ui24R.

Soundcraft just released another update for the Ui24R this July. I bought mine this July and I believe it will remain updated for quite some time.
@iamjonesy3 ай бұрын
Valid concern. There's a bug which means that you can't solo a matrix output (you just get silence in the headphones). This bug has been a known issue since 2020, and Soundcraft have still not released a firmware version that fixes this issue. None of the firmware added in the last four years have added any significant functionality.
@LeCriDuLoup99Ай бұрын
There are so many UI24R on the market, that Soundcraft would be silly to stop support for these :-) It’s a dope device and it’s by watching Lou’s videos that I got one and a second one later on. Prices have jumped up since I’ve got my units in 2020, but like anything else. And for my point of view, it’s the most complete bank for the bucks. Having the whole control from my iPad mini is awesome and miles ahead of a standard mixer. I used to work with a Soundcraft EFX8 which was great, but not as close as the quality of UI24R and not to mention what I can accomplish now. I still always have a Yamaha MG 06X in my bag, just in case for piece of mind. And I also usually have my second UI24R in the truck ready for replacement or for ceremony.

I'm coming at you from 2024 and just picked up a used prime 2 controller. I was intrigued with the idea of the internal hard drive feature. So far, i would have to agree with you. Even still today. The standalone controllers are starting to be the industry standard now and it somewhat annoys me because i like to work from a bigger library than one off a usb. But that's just me. Workflow is where this suffers, like you said. I can work so much better on a laptop. But, i feel, that's because i'm used to it. I have a little Hercules controller from 2014 and I just can't let her go. Everyone wants me to upgrade but, it really does everything I want. My real issue with the engine dj system is the details. I tried to search for something on the controller the other day and i couldn't find the song unless I typed in the artist name as well. Not an issue with Virtual Dj. I also can make playlists so much easier on the laptop. The engine dj makes it complicated. The whole "prepare" folder doesn't make sense. And I've yet to understand or come across how to create a crate, or whether it's any different than a playlist. My last issue is mixing on the Prime 2. For some reason, i really can't hear the music from my headphones as clear as with my old controller. Plus, i really like having the auto gain feature on Virtual Dj. The idea of having to run your music through a 3rd party program to normalize is just more work. All in all, i feel like this controller makes you do too much rather than focus on the music, the most important thing for djs.
