Went with the Sennheiser EW-D series recently but also have had good luck with my 2.4 Gz ones. Following the precautions mentioned here.

I'm using Sennheiser EW100 G4 wireless mics with a passive antenna combiner and half wave antennas. They work like a dream.

A great combo.

Great video! I’m working with a Sennheiser XSW 2-835 Wireless Handheld Microphone System with upgraded 1/2 wave antennas. Not sure if that’s 2.4 gz or not, but has worked for me 99% of the time! Thanks for the input and be well!

Many of the XSW models are in the “500MHz spectrum” so you’re probably all clear there.

So tell me, what wireless mics do you use? Do you dive deeper into the realm of advanced ceremony and mic services for your business?

Lou, great video and insight. May I ask, based on your information would you choose a Galaxy Audio AS-950 Wireless In-Ear Monitor System over the Xvive U4 Wireless In-ear Monitoring System? The U4 uses the 2.4ghz standard where the Galaxy has other options available. I’m considering purchasing one of these two. Thanks!

Sorry just seeing this. I’d not choose anything 2.4GHz to deliver audio. Just not dependable. It’s why i use the Sennheiser IEM system. m.kzbin.info/www/bejne/fH3MqKOgpbKSjq8&pp=ygUQRGogbG91IHBhcmlzIGllbQ%3D%3D

Quick Question Lou! Also, great video. I have a digital shure transmitter SLXD with 1/2 wave antennas (and paddles fins when very neccessary) and I still run into issues with RF dropping right before ceremony even after scanning at the last minute.....the only times it is really ever a BIG issue is when Photographers get in the line of sight with their camera bodies and burst shots.......what in the frekin world can i do to stop these issues? Money does not seem to solve it........and I have ran the gamut of my brain

A couple immediate thoughts. Antennas up high? That line of sight can be critical. Where is your squelch set? Do you mount the packs near anything like maybe a cell phone that could be causing some general noise floor issues.

@@djlouparis in this particular situation 1/2 wave antennas were only table high but it was an amphitheatre and we were at the top. Squelch is at factory setting as I have not learned enough about it to really use it effectively yet. Officiant placed bodypack in back pocket after I put it in his side pocket (no jacket pockets). RF did not drop when I watched him put it in his back pocket until bride/ groom came in on both sides......but when shit really hit the fan was when the photogs got in the middle of the aisle and started blasting photos

@@DjBustaBust so there can absolutely be some increased "noise" with the remote triggers of the flash and all. What distance were you from the officiant? Squelch, simply put, it's a sensitivity to the RF pickup from your transmitter to the receiver. Almost think of it as a noise gate. The higher the settings the lesser the operating distance will be, the lower the greater. But the lower setting may bring in unwanted signals from others if you are competing in that space. Not sure where the factory setting is on that since I don't use shure. It sounds like you were competing at distance, potential noise/EMI. Anything in your path can be a challenge, but it also should not be impossible to operate in.

I was about 30 yards or less. Would you have suggested I increase my squelch with the 1/2 waves to effectively make the "catchers mit" larger? What would you have done differently in this scenario on the whole? Appreciate everything you do. Most DJs are completely unaware of this stuff

@@DjBustaBust squelch could help a bit. Under 100’ you really shouldn’t have had too many issues between the scanning, half waves, and the like. Did you see if RF ever looked like the signal was diminishing?
