Food make-up? you mean ingredients. Middle-Eastern food is common in many urban areas in the USA, unless you are in rural America.

How about exchanging money at a bank? It is known that airports and hotels would be worse rate. There are specialized Exchange stores in certain malls in USA that is based on the international market so you don't get ripped-off. It's god to have a little cash on you since you will need something for transportation from the airport to hotel. I don't mean to sound harsh, but you really need to do reading and prepare beforehand, and not wait until you arrive at a foreign country to learn about these things. I hear now you have not travelled abroad previously. Bargaining is not arguing. Bargaining is common at flea markets in the USA.

I’m sure you saw my comment on your earlier post but again it is extremely weird to comment such rude things to someone you don’t know on the Internet from a video from years ago. I did lots of research before I came, but these were things that I’m sharing with people who did not come to Israel for their own learning purposes. If you don’t have anything nice to say, there is no reason to say it.

I have only viewed 7 minutes, but it is clear to me that you did not read about the Israel beforehand. Buy Frommer's guide books. It's worth reading print rather than thinking you get everything online. It is well-known that the Jewish and Muslim holy sites require modest dress to various degrees depending on the religion and sect. Even in America, one is not supposed to dress in short skirts, sleeveless, sandals in a synagogue, although these days codes of dress re not enforced. It is a sign of RESPECT for G-d. It is also a known fact that Israeli military personnel (men and women) are very present an-in society and wear weapons. Israel has been forced upon via missiles, rockets, etc. since it's democratic estb in 1948. The presence of the military is why people and tourists feel safe. I see your tape is 4 yrs ago, so now it will increase b.c. of oct. 7th. Paying for bathrooms is annoying from an American perspective, but it is common in some countries in EUROPE, like Italy and France.

Towards the middle of the video, you probably meant 'to bargain', not 'to barter'. It's common practice to bargain over prices of goods (to haggle, to negotiate) in small privately-owned stores in Israel, but not in department stores and apparel chains in malls, and certainly not in grocery stores or supermarkets over the price of groceries. In English, the verb "to barter" does not have the same meaning as "to negotiate," "to argue," or "to haggle." "Barter" refers to a specific type of economic exchange where goods or services are exchanged directly without the use of money. It involves trading one item for another without the involvement of currency. For example, if someone trades a cow for a bag of rice with another person, that would be considered a barter exchange. In a barter system, both parties involved in the exchange have something the other party wants, and they negotiate and agree on the terms of the trade. In short, there's absolutely no ‘bartering’ in any Israeli stores or market place, so maybe you should insert am erratum in your video. Thanks.

The presence of IDF in East Jerusalem is because the area is under a military occupations and there’s also an apartheid system imposed on the resident, which you will be able to see when you cross to the West Bank. Segregated roads, checkpoints etc. That’s why the country is under constant threat and soldiers are present everywhere. Under the apartheid system, you have two different legal systems: one operates using the military court and the other is the normal court. Under the military legal system, children are imprisoned without trial and even tortured.

I had to pay the used bathroom in Chicago years ago. I'm talking like, 35 years ago. Don't know if it's still like that, haven't been back since.And when I was in Jamaica they had men standing around with a big gun strapped on. We are going to Israel in November, can't wait.

Interesting story about paying to use the bathroom. I converted US dollar to Euros for a trip to Italy. You do not get coins. Off the plane and straight to the coin operated bathroom…it required euro coins! And no machine to convert bills to coins.

In America you absolutely DO see armed men and women... the police. Also, for those of us who live in Military areas (think anywhere we have military bases) it is quite common to see.

So East Jerusalem is under a military occupation, and next door, like in Bethlehem, there’s an apartheid system with segregated roads, checkpoints, two different legal systems (one military legal system and one the regular system). Under the military system children imprisoned without trial…etc. Half the residents in East Jerusalem have no right to citizenship and to vote even though their presence there is even before the state was created, and the presence of the military there is to police those who are supposed to be living under the apartheid.

YOUR VIDEO WAS GREAT AND HELPFUL. I DONT KNOW IF YOU ARE TRYING TO BE DIPLOMATIC OR REALLY ARE NOT AWARE OF THE REASON THAT ISRAEL DOEN NOT STAMP PASPORTS. IT IS BECAUSE THE ARAB COUNTRIES DO NOT ACCEPT THE EXISTANCE OF THE STATE OF ISRAEL AND THEY WANT TO PUNISH ISRAEL IN ANY WAT THEY CAN. EVEN IF THE INNOCENT TOURIST IS JUST GOING TO VISIT AND IS NOT AN ISRAELI CITIZEN.

Hi! | really enjoyed watching this vlog! As someone that lives in Israel, but not for my entire life, it was really cool to see you as a tourist in the country I live in! Like you, when I came to Israel as a tourist (originally) I also went to all of these places so it takes me back 18 years hehe. I was at that very location in the desert with the Bedouins and did the same overnight stay in the huge tent. If you come back to Israel in the future, there are other places that I would highly recommend you visit such as Haifa (various places but specifically the Bahai gardens), Mount Hermon if you would be here in the winter (snow and skiing in the north with the desert in the south which is pretty wild), Eilat right down in the south where you can swim with dolphins, go snorkeling and see the underground aquarium there. There's a lot to see for such a small country! It took me years to see more of Israel than what I did on the original visit. But you saw a LOT for 10 days! Thanks again for the video! I hope all is going well with you in the States.

After my son and I finish our move and get settled, we will be saving for him to take me to Yisrael. He has been there on tour with our Rabbi a few years ago and wants to take me on that same tour. I already enjoy flat bread with hummus and falafels. I already understand that there are a lot of vegans there, so most places have foods for that. Most of the food I eat is spicy anyway. It is a good thing I like water. After my morning coffee, that is all I drink for the rest of the day. I also already dress modestly so that won't be a problem for me and I cover my hair by wearing a wrap. The problem for me is needing to use a bathroom before I can get any shekels. I have incontinence problems and am always rushing to a bathroom. Maybe need to use the bathroom before departing the plane and hope for the best. Hmmm.... I may need to carry lots of shekels. It may take a couple of years to save up, but I will eventually make it there. If the heat is a dry heat, I will love it. I miss the dry heat I grew up with in the Sacramento valley of California. So I know the need for hydration.

Nothing makes me feel like I'm in Israel more than getting on the light rail in Jerusalem and looking around to see 7 people with massive guns, someone else with a pistol, and a double stroller all in the same train car.
@geegeeh.6118

Yes because there’s an apartheid system there and the army is to enforce the system on the residents of East Jerusalem, and the rest of the West Bank. I hope you know that east Jerusalem’s residents have no right to vote and no right to citizenship and face a different legal system. They have to carry a different ID and don’t have the same rights. The armed citizens you see there are called settlers. Under international law their presence there is illegal. They live on land that was unjustly confiscated from their owners, so they are frequent targets of angry resentful people who are also subjugated to an apartheid. Hence the states provides them with arms and military training to be able protect themselves and leaves a heavy military presence.
@malkah8832
@malkah8832 Жыл бұрын
You do know that people who live in East Jerusalem have the right citizenship at any point if they so choose, right? Most of them choose not to, but that doesn't mean they aren't given the choice to get citizenship and vote in elections and be subject to the normal legal system if they want to. The west bank isn't actually part of Israel, because Israel hasn't annexed it. Just because there are Israeli citizens who live there, and Israeli soldiers who police it, doesn't mean that it's part of Israel. If they aren't living in Israel, why would they be granted Israeli citizenship?

Do you have any notes about Palestine? I want to meet the Palestinians. Are there Palestinians in the Israeli lands you visited, or are they considered occupied territories, or were the Palestinian pushed into the confined areas, such as west bank, or Gaza Strip I have heard about? I was in Jerusalem once, when I was a kid, and I heard it was more free to roam, but I heard ever since Israel and Trump tried to push Jerusalem as a part of Israel, it’s not easy to travel to Jerusalem now, what’s the deal with that?

I have been to Israel several times but not recently; I never experienced pay toilets. When I first went to Israel, I encountered Israelis who did not understand English and I had to go to the toilet. I had heard the word "sherutim" (services) but I did not know it in the context of toilet. I thought they were sending me to the shared taxis. In Egypt, there were bathroom attendants who expected a small tip.
