Hi Matt Any leasing companies in NI you would recommend? I’m hoping to get a new car and would prefer to lease but not sure where to start looking locally. Thanks Gary
@mattdrives2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the Q, Gary! Personally, I couldn’t find a single local lease site or company that could even come close to any deals I’ve seen. Same with local dealers in NI. Not saying it isn’t possible, just saying I’ve never seen it. I used leasing.com (no affiliation at all). Ordering a car from GB is really easy, just takes one Ferry journey and at the end of the term the car will be picked up at your house in NI and auctioned locally

Yes, that’s correct. The ‘9 months rental’ should be seen as a deposit. A higher deposit ie initial rental, reduces the future monthly payments. Always calculate a lease off the total cost across the period, not on the monthly

With all due respect, if you are leasing a £40k plus car, you should be in a position to buy a couple of branded tyres.
@mattdrives2 жыл бұрын
A fair point in theory. But a lot of people do not go on the value of the car, because that isn’t what they pay, they go off the monthly. There are people who see £300 a month plus insurance and fuel as their only costs, when in fact, it’s actually more than that.

As long as the car goes back to the lease company at the end like standard (and no warranty voiding mods took place if applicable), you can do what you want. They won’t know. Of course, you can contact them and ask permission but they always say it’s easier to ask forgiveness than permission.

Im a big fan of boxer engines, ive had three Subarus but none of them were economical round town. I had a rare RC hatchback for two years, that was okay for fuel on a run to be fair but none of them cheap to run or maintain. Parts cost a fortune. If the GT86 had been AWD I would have got one as the two litre is more than enough for me. Weird how they didnt use the same engine in the XV or Forester with power up to 200bhp. No idea what Subaru were thinking. It was a natural choice as the engines in those are a bit underpowered.

I have owned a VW UP GTI for more than 2 years. Great car. But and a big but, is that VW did not upgrade the suspension or the tyres. I had a horrible experience in 2019 travelling in France. The tyres spun on a 10 in 1 dusty Road, right next to a 1,000 ft drop. 😱 I’ve since replaced the original horrible cheap tyres with Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5 205/40 r17 84w XL. Such an improvement. I also replaced the suspension with Bilstein. Now everything is great. Try it.

When I raked it about for all my videos, it got 40+. And when driving sensibly, we are talking high 50s or early 60s. My daily journeys are carriageway/city style on the regular, so for comparison, would have got me 30ish mpg in my old 2.0L petrol Audi and 50ish in the UP.

If you’re already driving a Mii Sport then I’d highly recommend the Up GTI. If you see my most recent video, I do a bit of a walk around of it and give a few comments. I only sold mine due to needing a bigger car. Every other ‘criticism’ I had about the car (very few) wouldn’t apply to you. EG the small mirrors will be the same as your Mii’s, whereas they were way smaller than my Audi’s. Really great car and they are actually appreciating right now. My car sold for £1000 more than I paid for it AND it had an extra 700 miles on it.
