Fascinating. I can only imagine how great squat parties were held there in the early 90's ! And apparently Factory was haunted with basement still being closed for unknown reasons and after massive residential redevelopment in 2000s those who live there still experiencing new occurrences and paranormal activities

Back when I was in high school, We used to climb that smoke stack and walk around the buildings at night. Never got chased by ghosts tho like everybody else alleges. They were probably scared of us kids lol

I lived here in the new apartments with my girlfriend for 6 months. We had to move out due to it being haunted. As a christian whatever was there did not want us to be

Funny that in this video it was a couple years abandoned, and it was already pretty rusty.

It's strange. I've ridden my bike through what is now the parking lots of this iconic building. It is now a large set of apartments. I was born after the remodeling. I wish I could have been around to see it like this

Thats so cool to see, and I love seeing the loading dock for the rail cars. It makes sense it was alongside the railway. And the Prarie Path is the coolest bike path in the USA!

My home town of Villa Park, IL. I could guess you would want to explore it but it's no longer abandoned. It's a large set of apartments. It's called the Ovaltine Court now.

I lived in Villa Park and Lombard as a kid. I remember riding my bike, with friends and alone, down the Prarie Path past the "Ovaltine Factory" many times. It was still in operation in those days '78-'82. I never liked Ovaltine and neither did anyone else I knew. Great memories. Thanks for sharing.

The building is White Hall at Chanute AFB in Rantoul IL....the HQ building was on your left as you drove in the main gate. White Hall was the largest DOD building until the Pentagon was built. I left there 30 Aug 1993 and was the last person from the Med Group (worked at the Dental Clinic) to out-process the base. After we closed the dental clinic, I worked at the hospital, helped close it, and then worked at DRMO for about a month scrapping anything and everything... It was my favorite base of the six I was stationed at over a 22 year career. Sad to see it crumbling away :-(

I was so bored one night when I was stationed there for training that I saw "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II" in that theater by myself. 1991. So weird to see the base closed and being torn down bit by bit.

Project for reconstruction started at this base a couple months ago. They are rebuilding part of the base for lincoln's challenge. They are tearing 2 or 3 buildings down, remodeling 2 or 3 and then building 2 or 3 more new buildings. Rumors about the airport terminal are still around but idk. Project is costing $40 million, so lets see what happens, hopefully a good outcome!

Too see what the plant it looks like now is quite fascinating. No evil sprits here except the heat spirits that leave here because of these big @$$ windows. The spirit of the memories of employees producing a product. The many railcarloads of product and supplies that came and left here. And the faint right of way of The Chicago Great Western & Chicago Aurora & Elgin are all that remain. And my imagination of CGW Funits growling while rolling past the plant.

Found it on Google Earth (I think), Dobbins Ave & Neal Dr, near theatre 1. Chanute AFB. Use the time slider, go back to 2005, you can see the holes in the roof.
