I lived in Villa Park and Lombard as a kid. I remember riding my bike, with friends and alone, down the Prarie Path past the "Ovaltine Factory" many times. It was still in operation in those days '78-'82. I never liked Ovaltine and neither did anyone else I knew. Great memories. Thanks for sharing.

Thats so cool to see, and I love seeing the loading dock for the rail cars. It makes sense it was alongside the railway. And the Prarie Path is the coolest bike path in the USA!

Thanks for the memories. I had a lot of fun there as a kid. Although it was through distruction it was still great. Found a large pipe on wheels and used it like a battering ram to take out a complete wall. Damn i miss the prarie path back in the day.

I lived not far from there when I was a kid in the 1950's ... I always heard the Ovaltine factory whistle, as well as the International Harvester whistle (where my grandfather worked) throughout the day. Those definitely were the days, which we can never ever recover. ~~ Suz ~~

It's strange. I've ridden my bike through what is now the parking lots of this iconic building. It is now a large set of apartments. I was born after the remodeling. I wish I could have been around to see it like this

Back when I was in high school, We used to climb that smoke stack and walk around the buildings at night. Never got chased by ghosts tho like everybody else alleges. They were probably scared of us kids lol

Funny that in this video it was a couple years abandoned, and it was already pretty rusty.

Hell ya, I used to bust in the ovaltine factory every now and then, once it was abandoned. It was always cool, taking a tour around the place, and fuck - climbing the smokestack, ya the smokestack right there at 0:02, holy shit was that scary.

piboy1000 I think I saw it too, but it's probably just our overactive imaginations. I don't think it's anything paranormal or supernatural.

@xxxsimonsaysxxx1 Spot on! I moved to Elmhurst around 2000 and remember riding my bike down the prarie path out to elgin and it seemed like every time I tried psych myself into going inside, something about it just told me not to. I've been in multiple abandoned factories and the ovaltine factory was the only one that I couldn't convince myself to get into, hell I used to wander around the grounds of the peabody masnion in oakbrook off 83 by myself.
