1975 was last year that the word “teen”was part of my current age. And now the 20, 30, 40, 50, something and over half of the 60 something’s are gone. Damn party on !

I will never stop listening to the greatest music of its time. Believe it or not, after service in the Marines and Saigon, it was this music that gave me peace and hope after so much death and destruction we did. We came back to an unforgiving nation especially for 'the bloods'.

You can hear this amazing singer by searching "Birmingham Sunlights", an a capella gospel group with James Taylor, his brothers and other amazing voices. "I come to the garden" and "working on a building" will blow you away!

One Fine Morning was the first album I ever bought. I went to Sam the Record Man on Yonge Street near Dundas (before the Eaton Centre was there. And when I say I bought if form Sam the Record Man, I mean that it was Mr. Sniderman himself at the cash register.

Heard this for a few weeks on WLS in Chicago and loved it. It disappeared then, and I always thought it should have been a #1 hit.

I used to listen to this and daydream about the girl I had a crush on in 1968. I was a junior in high school. She was a sophomore and I was afraid of rejection. Two years later I dated her. She broke up with me and broke my heart. Two months later she came to my college baseball game and told me she made a big mistake and wanted me to forgive her and take her back. I told her that I had already forgiven her, and as bad as I wanted to go back to her, my pride wouldn’t let me. I told her it was too late. Fast forward 10 years. I’m still single and was having trouble with my girlfriend. We had broken up. I just happened to run in to my old girlfriend and she was divorced and had a child. We went out and I thought she was what I wanted. But I discovered I really loved the other girl. I went back to her and asked her to marry me. That was 40 years ago. Still happily married.

Music like this is sadly forgotten, never played on regular radio ever, and needs a revival big time. Sure you might hear it on satellite radio, maybe. I bought almost every Superhits of the 70’s CD’s and will never get rid of three CD players cause those are going to be obsoleted like cassette tapes. There will never be a decade of music like from 1970-1979 period. The greatest decade with thousands of songs and the one hit wonders galore. Thanks for the post. Always dug this tune very much.

Such raw, sincere, intense emotion! Being idealistic and very young in the '60s - that was a very special experience. I loved this song since it came out. Still a great, unforgettable song, more than half a century later.

Hello Mike - We go way back to the beginning of your channel. We had some nice chats. I hope you will consider reposting your Richard Finch video as it was one of my favorites. He did his time and I think enough time has passed. If you are still in contact with him, please let him know I much I appreciate the music he made. I would love to speak with him and share this myself as I have been connecting with artists who made a difference in my life. If there is a way you and I can email or chat in private, please let me know. I'll remove our posts once you have replied. Thanks.

16 July 2024 Hi Mike! Wishing you well! Listening to the Vant Garde singing "Fly with Me" continues to evoke tremendously emotional and intensely thoughtful memories of late 1968! I remember when you first posted the song in October 2008, and you responded to my earlier email that fall when I inquired about posting the song! "Fly with Me" by the Avant Garde is an especially significant hit from November 1968! The song evokes fond but painful memories of 1968, and I remember listening to this song on a local Portland, Oregon AM station [KISN 91]. I reflected upon the United States presidential election, Tuesday, 5 November 1968, and the nation preferring Republican Richard M. Nixon to Democrat Hubert H. Humphrey, American Independent Party candidate George C. Wallace proving to be the inimical spoiler. More significant, though, was the remembrance and the recognition of the birthday of Senator Robert F. Kennedy, 20 November 1968, in memoriam., the tragic loss to America and the intense grieving from his loss. These events occupied 1968, and "Fly with Me" seemed to be a mechanism to release that sorrow and grief we sustained. Thank you again for posting this significantly memorable song! Tu amigo, always, Dean! Dean Browning Webb, Esq., Attorney and Counselor at Law

I woke up this morning and this song popped in my head. Have not heard it in a very long time so not sure why it was in my brain. Amazon Alexa could not play it so here I am on KZbin and bam! There it is. I have this in my 45 collection but have not pulled that out in a long time. I'm too lazy. I'm 70 and have all these great songs splashing around in my brain. Thanks for being there Music Mike.

Let's Live For Today The Grass Roots When I think of all the worries that people seem to find And how they're in a hurry to complicate their minds By chasing after money and dreams that can't come true I'm glad that we are different, we've better things to do When others plan their future, I'm busy loving you One, two, three, four Shah-la, la-la-la-la, live for today Shah-la, la-la-la-la, live for today And don't worry 'bout tomorrow, ay-ay-ay Shah-la, la-la-la-la live for today (live for today) We were never meant to worry the way the people do And I don't need to hurry as long as I'm with you We'll take it nice and easy, and use my simple plan You'll be my lovin' woman, I'll be your lovin' man We'll take the most from living, have pleasure while we can Two, three, four Shah-la, la-la-la-la, live for today, ay-ay-ay Shah-la, la-la-la-la, live for today And don't worry 'bout tomorrow, ay-ay-ay Shah-la, la-la-la-la, live for today (live for today) Baby, I need to feel you inside of me I got to feel you deep inside of me And baby, please, come close to me I've got to have you now, please, please, please, please Gimme some lovin', just gimme some lovin' Gimme some lovin', just gimme some lovin' Baby, gimme some lovin', just gimme some lovin' I got to have all your love (gimme some lovin') Babe, I need all your love (gimme some lovin') And now I need all your lovin' (la-la-la-la-la-la-la) Shah-la, la-la-la-la, live for today Shah-la, la-la-la-la, live for today And don't worry 'bout tomorrow, ay-ay-ay Shah-la, la-la-la-la, live for today (no, no, no, no) Shah-la, la-la-la-la, live for today...
