I didn't realize you said marble at the start so I was thinking you were making textures to fake water caustics until you said marble again and made a cube out of it
@MeshModelerАй бұрын
haha Might be a good way to make caustics as well

How to fix the first part with a gradient with random direction is my biggest question at the moment as it will not tile correctly because you need a border on x and y to work with the floodfill

If you use a pyramid shape then auto levels it and lastly put it through a histogram scan with the position set to max you with get a black border that's always 1 pixel wide
@MeshModeler11 ай бұрын
That's a great trick! Pyramid thru a threshold will also do the same thing

I would like to ask how do you rotate light in Substance Designer as I can't find any shortcut written anywhere. But in your tutorials you are able to do it. Is it some kind of plugin? Anyway thanks for these shorts they are really helpful.

I usually just use directional warp but this might be better
@MeshModeler Жыл бұрын
yup! i know a lot of people go that route. Ive always liked this method a bit better :)
@EthanFilms7 ай бұрын
that only warps the pattern in ONE direction, with a color vector warp, each color is a different direction so you're less likely to have some tiles not warp as much, if it was greyscale, theres a much bigger change youll get two tiles that are really close in value

What's the difference between a Height Blend node and just a normal Blend? Which is better for just, adding rocks to some dirt, lets say? So many different approaches I never understand what's best practice... Also, you just use a shape splatter to combine the dirt with your rocks, is that better than blend?

Does anyone know if we can use a node similar to the Get Slope node?
@@MeshModeler Thank you so much, Javier! I really appreciated your video! I've learned a lot of nodes from it! Because I'm a newbie to Substance Designer, I got lost after 20:38. It would be much better if you could share how you created the normal and ambient occlusion nodes.👍👍👍

This is the most interesting SD tutorial I've seen so far. You use some original nodes' combinations, I'm yet to figure out how some of them work to fully understand your approach. It's all very neat, everything has it's purpose, no random or useless nodes mudding the whole material. Thank you very much for sharing this tutorial for free!
