The reason the BBC need young listeners is to try and get them paying the licence fee from a young age. What the BBC do not seem to grasp is that no young people listen to the radio or watch TV anymore. My daughter is 19 and not one of her friends watch terrestrial TV or listen to the radio. The BBC is no longer relevant and will die.

This actually happened to me about 2 years ago. I was massively overweight (18 stone) so decided to take me and my daughter up to the peak of Pen y Fan for some exercise. I'm 30 minutes away from the mountain. So we get there and we make a start, 40 minutes into the clime and I'm a bath of sweat and about half way up. I decide to sit on the side of the path panting away and I look up and see Billy running down past me, he looks at me, gives me a look that's says 'Pathetic' and carry's on running. It was both funny and the motivation I needed to get fit and lose weight.

in the 90's we used to chill up in the Brecon mountains in cars smoking hash, we would be parked down off the track trails and every now and then we would see one or two of these guys. we knew who they were we knew these guys were the best of the best always really cool moments. For sure 99% of them seen us without us ever knowing they were there.

Its interesting what Mark says about people becoming addicts at an early age, i have worked with these people they are really unstable with scant coping mechanisms.
