@@JohnB9474 Different trains were filmed at different locations on different days over 2 months. The production focuses geographically on the mileposts on this short run, not by each train.

Because I worked for Deutsche Bahn Regio for 34 years as a train driver (train manager in passenger transport) and conductor and as an inspector, you look with different eyes and follow the operating procedures closely. I did see new welded rail on the Mackinaw Sub in St. Helen. Speeds are rising, especially at Whitefeather Rd. In Pinconning.

Todd, an exceptional production. I just returned to Florida from a week in Harrisville State Park, and I found it amazing that every night around 8 PM, a host of camp families lined up safely at the crossing to watch the Southbound from Alpena. People loved it. Great drone shots in this video. Wonderful.😊

@@HuronRailProductions Thank you Jon! Currently all I have left is a bit of the Saginaw Sub in the Wixom area. It’s difficult to get over there and plan for anything when those trains aren’t nearly as regular as all the trains north of Saginaw. I still need some more shots and information in the Grayling/Gaylord area I’d like to get for modeling purposes so I wouldn’t rule out seeing more chases up there. In a couple months I’d like to focus hard on the model RR, so who knows? Maybe I’ll make a 2nd channel for model railroad operations videos in time.

Wonder how long it will be before LSRC removes the rest of the original main track through Gaylord, as there appears to be no business on it. They have wanted to get rid of it for at least 5 to 8 years, but were told no by the state.

@@andreasforster7757 The A&L track is a 2.5 mile spur, or branch line, that comes off the main line in Gaylord. All of Gaylord business is on the short branch line. It gets its name from A&L Iron and Metal scrap yard located at the very end of the branch at mile 2.55.

Excellent video Todd. Both trackside and drone views are great and it is interesting to see LSRC serving the industries around here including the particle board plant. Those scenes at Otsego Lake are real nice and a location thats rarely captured on film. The shot of the train arriving into Grayling was a nice one too with the I-75 and water tower in background. Well done 👍🏻

In fact, not long after I begin exploring operations in Grayling and Gaylord it became clear that I needed to model the region. Which I am happily beginning now. Very nice video of the Gaylord turn! When does this job typically run? I’m gonna be in northern Michigan later this summer and would like to catch a Lake State train or two if I can! It appears to be late afternoon or early evening. Not sure on the day frequency though.

Thanks! They tend to go to Gaylord Tuesday and Thursday. I’d say be trackside in grayling between 3-5 and you’ll likely see it. The depot is a good place to hang out. Good luck!

I occasionally wonder if those No Trespassing warnings apply to air-space. Do you ever worry that flying the drone over RR property could be trouble?

Those are NFZ’s. 99% of “no trespassing” warnings are there for outsiders physical safety so they do not wander onto private property and get injured. It’s cheaper for a business to throw law enforcement and the courts at trespassers than to be sued by them. Though I am still very selective what I show the public when I’m filming the railroad, workers, and businesses served.

That is a small sensation. 💥💥💥I've been waiting for Grayling Tour for a long time. The last time I saw a complete ride was 6 years ago at DIB. This route has done it to me. Otsego Lake and Frederick. And others.😇😇 A lot has happened in Gaylord in recent years, infrastructure and much more. Does LSRC 1/0 also go to Gaylord? Your labelling is brilliant. Not at all, that I’m aware of. For all I intents and purposes, the A&L spur is the operational end of the line. In fact, the switch at the main is always locked & lined onto the A&L spur.

@@user-mr3ct1dm9p you’re welcome. They often set out the Stella Jones high side & bathtub gons in the siding near the grayling depot between the golf course and Au Sable River. I think it all depends on train lengths going north AND south if they take them north or drop them for later pick up in grayling. Setting them out in grayling is two extra moves so it makes more sense to take them along.

They run regularly Tues & Thurs. On duty at 3:00pm at 4 Mile Rd. Power is kept south/east of the Xing beside SRM. Keep the scanner handy, sometimes they’ll go straight north, sometimes they’ll work the far end of the yard, sometimes they’ll set out the Stella Jones empties by the grayling depot. It varies. Typically go north between 3-5pm
