My much-loved Twinkle (Maine Coon) left me for Rainbow Bridge last Sunday after a sudden decline, she was 12, we put her marker down yesterday and I’m still crying … *Please* go hug your furbabies right now because tomorrow is never guaranteed. Love and miss you forever my Twinkle Star 💙🐱💙 (Glad to see Mićo is feeling well enough for playtime Meow-Momma, I hope he only improves)

This is so hard for you, I wish I could think of some helpful suggestions! I thought Mico was going to like the VetLife food, he sounded hungry! But then I saw he only ate a little. Hoping he gets used to the idea that he must eat some more soon! Please eat, Mico! 💕🙏🏻🐱

Some of the renal parents say they just feed basic such as fancy feast which they'll eat and put a phosphorus blocker on it. I asked my vet about a phosphorus blocker (plain calcium carbonate works too) and she said my boy doesn't have elevated phosphorus so he doesn't need that. I would rather my boy enjoy his food (which strangely enough is Purina One Healthy Kitten dry food mostly) and maintain his weight as long as possible as to starve him hoping he'll eat something that I'm sure just doesn't taste right to him. I give him Azodyl twice daily and fluids twice a week and he seems to be doing fine. Will do blood work again in December. I know it's frustrating because we want what's best for our babies and they just don't understand.

Thank you so much for your advice! We tried giving him supplements (something like Azodyl, but in our country), but it upsets his stomach. We'll do some trial and error and hopefully find the right combination for him 💕

We were feeding besty’s Siamese mix this as well. She passed in August. She had kidney issues too. I hope u r doing well, mmwaahhhh miko luv! I too am dealing with kidney issues, had surgery last year n will need more next year

@@MicoKitty thank you Meow-Momma, but Twinkle passed away last night, I’m just so upset and angry over it. I _knew_ there was something wrong but my family said ‘I was looking for things to be wrong’. Now I can’t stop crying for her and they’re annoyed at me “because I wasn’t this upset over my brother” (bullsh*t, I was, but my brother passed over 16 years ago, I’m sort of numb to his absence now, this is fresh and raw). I’ll keep praying for Mićo 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

He is eating one third to a half of recommended daily feeding amount. Unfortunately, he's not eating enough and we're not able to give him supplements anymore, because last time we did, he regurgitated stomach acid. I guess those supplements, however tasty they were, upset his little stomach. I can see he's hungry and asking for food, but I guess he's not used to this renal food. We're trying out a bunch of different ones to see if he likes them or not. For now, we tried Royal Canin renal dry food and he's eating a bit (20 grams per day MAX). We tried TROVET wet food and Royal Canin thin slices in gravy, he licks it, he eats it a little bit, but dropping and spitting it all around the house. We also tried giving him Brit grain free veterinary diet renal tuna and salmon with peas and he didn't even want to try it, not even one lick! As canned food goes, we tried VetLife renal food from Farmina (seen in the video) and as you can see, he eats it a bit, lick it, but leaves the majority intact. We spoke to our vet and some of you Meow Friends and we were told the same thing - try to be patient and he will come around and get used to it. If you have any advice or suggestions on best feline renal foods, any tips, anything - will be very much appreciated! Thank you! Thank you so much for recommending it. I saw it and some of them are available in Serbia. I went to three or four different pet stores and pharmacies and bought every single can and bag of wet food and every sample size bag of dry food. We'll see!
