You need to add a ground wire to the chassis or converter ground from the GND terminal on the fridge.

You left out the most important thing, how much charge was left on the battery after 24 hours . If it gets cloudy, a small generator will be cheaper to run than the RV.

Couldn’t a person take a 2 way fridge and plug it into a socket from a larger (2-3000w) inverter from a 12v supply? Yes a bit more energy consumed from inverter. But no need to buy a new fridge?

Would never rent an RV out. Maintain 100% & when one sells it, the RV will be in Great Shape new owner. Personally would never want to own an RV, made so cheap walls, insulation, framing & electric wiring not accessible ya have to tear the walls to get to.

Who in their right mind, rents their RV out to total strangers? Especially, to people that are not familiar with all the intricacies of an RV, Of course, things will get broken. And, it's expensive even if they have the item in stock. I'll bet you have to purchase a special type insurance to cover all these potential issues. Good luck with that.

You might want to verify the gauge of existing wire is heavy enough for the amperage of the 12 volt new one. I watched a dealer replace one and they ran a heavier gauge wire back to the battery. May be okay, but something to verify. I want to do this as well, so watching you pave the way was very helpful. Thanks!

I've had this fridge in my rig for over a year maybe 2, and i,ve never had any problems with power, fried wires or fuse tripping

Compressor fridges use LESS power, not more. If the old fridge was a 3 way absorption, the new one is most likely fine, unless the old wiring was wrong to begin with.

I think the manufacturer sometimes build around things like refrigerators, that way they can justify the cost when they fail. Not everyone has the patience to do this kind of work. Nice job 👍

DO NOT USE TAPE ON A Flare Fitting
@roybertalotto6355
@roybertalotto6355 Жыл бұрын
An old battery connected to a new battery will cause the old battery to pull the new battery down to its performance level and ultimately destroy both batteries. You need to buy batteries together from the same manufacturer and same model and hopefully with the same manufacturing lot number. Also, the wire you are running that refrigerator on is WAY to small. You will have a voltage drop and make the compressor work harder. Or, if not properly fused, cause a fire. I'm surprised you have not been having issues with this.

It seals at the flare, not the threads. If you use tape, you could stop the flare from seating all the way. Loose the tape on a flare/compression fitting

Nice vid. I would suggest you use 10 awg wire though as Everchill indicates in its manual. Otherwise, you can have intermittent shut downs when battery voltage drops a little.

Never use thread tape on gas line they will leak. You use the liquid teflon. Just say this for your safety and other.

Another video said to purge the line of gas first, after turning tank off. That video showed it to take just a few minutes. I tried that and 5 minutes later all 3 burners were blazing away! how long does it take to purge the furnace line of gas?!

@norme2681 Жыл бұрын
No, gas line tape, but on a flared fitting don't use any tape the fitting seals it's self at the nipple. Tape will do nothing to seal, but will allow fitting loosen.

Nice looking project. One major issue I see (and I've noticed it on several youtube videos) is that the outside "skin" of the refrigerator has insulation laying against it. The outside of the refrigerator needs to have an inch for air to freely circulate and dissipate heat. I'm planning to do a similar change out for a small trailer. Since the upper and lower outside air vents won't be needed, I was hoping to find some flush mount Dometic blank off doors. Nothing so far.

When you put your batteries in parallel, you will have less power. Tiny differences in voltage cause them to fight each other. On separate chargers, they could power separate loads.
