It seals at the flare, not the threads. If you use tape, you could stop the flare from seating all the way. Loose the tape on a flare/compression fitting

Hey you do not put tape on a flare fitting
@denverleamy616811 ай бұрын
No, it is not required and may in fact cause a leak that otherwise might not have present.

What size cap did you purchase?

Awwww I needed to see you cap it and see cap. Is it male cap or female cap. Just removed my pipe line and once I did, I realized I have wrong cap. Guy at Ace Hardware gave me a female cap, but need a male cap. My bad for not checking it before I left. So back to Ace I go.

Can u use plumbers tape also?
@norme2681 Жыл бұрын
No, gas line tape, but on a flared fitting don't use any tape the fitting seals it's self at the nipple. Tape will do nothing to seal, but will allow fitting loosen.

Another video said to purge the line of gas first, after turning tank off. That video showed it to take just a few minutes. I tried that and 5 minutes later all 3 burners were blazing away! how long does it take to purge the furnace line of gas?!
