this animation isn't in chronological order, the start shows when wukong got killed by erlang, which you also see at the start of the game, though this is actually what went down in this cutscene. The middle bits where wukong is against the bull king was during the journey to the west book, where wukong was essentially a pawn for the celestial court on the journey to fetch the scriptures. They needed the bull king's wife's fan in order to get through this flame mountain, but he wouldn't give it up so they fought. During this Bajie kills the bull kings concubine, making him tweak out, so a bunch of people from the celestial court had to take him down. Because the bull king is immortal like wukong, even when his head gets cut off, he doesn't die(in the book his head gets cut off multiple times before he gives up). The end of the animation is also when wukong dies, and shows that all the final bosses of each chapter that you fought in the game ganged up on wukong along with erlang and the celestial court, and was not a one on one like the beginning of the game is portraying. This is why they each get a part of wukongs body (the relics).

Add in the Geneseed which has the memories and experience of the Space Marine it came from and you get a 40k Space Marine. They have fragments of the knowledge and experience of the 10,000 years of the Space Marines who's Geneseed was used to make them all the way back to their Primarch.
