I own both of them, stainless and iron. since many years. The iron type is a bit sharper, but when you cut onions never cut an apple after. Taste is awful! In Germany the #8 is illegal too in cities, stations etc. For longer hikes, camping etc., I carry both of them. There is no need for a "big - multy purpose" swiss knife, better take a simple one.

We are giving this a huge thumbs up 👍. As we have already watched, and said, one of the best through trail videos we have watched on you tube 🙌. Full of emotion, ups and downs, and topped off with a little bit of trail magic 👌. Great idea to compile into a feature length film. We would recommend anyone to watch, whether you are planning your own coast to coast adventure, or you just want some great entertainment, perfect 😊🙌. Shell and Pete

Loved watching your hike in stages as I complete it myself (one more day for me), especially since I had a very similar shin problem that I had to manage. Great work man.

Absolutely outstanding achievement, and series Ben🙌. You dealt with everything you had thrown at you with such strength of mind and purpose, a man on a mission! This is one of the best through trail series we have watched, we felt right there with you the whole way, quite literally through all the ups and downs, and even felt emotional watching you walk your last mile and complete your epic journey🥹. You did your dad proud. Thank you for sharing this journey with us, Shell and Pete 🤗🙌

I always really appreciate your lovely comments Shell and Pete. Thanks so much for watching all of it. It’s a bit of a long view!! It’s been great hearing how you and others have connected to the adventure and felt part of it. My simple plan as always is to just tell the story - worts and all. Keep it real. Would love to meet you both one day! Speak soon. Ben 🫡

Congrats on finishing the walk. On a good day you can see the sea from when you first crest onto the open moors (about 4:30 in your video) - but then you realise there's still 3 or 4 days walking to final goal and the excitement quickly fades. Thanks for the vids. Next year I may do an E2W crossing (and then walk the 4 miles from St Bees to home at the end) - mind you, it'll be B&B to B&B - none of this camping lark.

Such a pity you missed 9SR and the bogs - great part of the adventure - I sunk thigh deep in one of the bogs - when the heavens opened at Ravenseat I didn't bother with the waterproofs and just allowed the rain to wash off the peat.

My advice - if its wet avoid the decent from Kidsty - follow the ridge parallel to Haweswater - the decent at the end is steep but grassy so less harmful if you do slip.

As part of the adoption, I think the path is due to go on the northern side of Ennerdale. Living only 6 miles from Ennerdale and with views out across the Irish Sea, I can agree whole-heartedly - the weather can change in a few minutes - not uncommon for it to be dry at the W end of Ennerdale and phishing it down at the E end. Walked the route Sep 22. Such a pity you didn't camp at the YH - I think they have a drying room you can use.

Brilliant. Brilliant. Brilliant. What a journey and it was a privilege for us to come along. Thank you Ben for all the hours of filming and editing, the highs and lows, the challenges and moments of joy along the way were wonderful to share. And this was August 😮 I can’t recall a month like it and it’s credit to your mental strength to have got through the Lake District in what I consider appalling conditions. Congratulations 🎉 That was a bit emotional watching the slipway appear. Fantastic for PCUK too. nice one Ben 👍

This is on my radar for 2025 so interesting for me to see your experience. Many hikers! I completed Glyndwr’s Way (Wales) just a couple of weeks ago. It is a national trail but is the least walked. 135 miles in 9 days and I saw only 2 other hikers!

Well done. A fantastic achievement for a fantastic cause. Enjoyed following your journey and the highs and lows. I walked the Pennine Way a couple of years ago and totally relate to that final day emotion after so many days of walking. The realisation of what you’ve just achieved and that it’s about to end is very overwhelming. I recorded my journey too and it’s great to watch them back later down the line and relive the memories. You should be very proud of what you’ve just achieved 👍
