Giving the recipe in % is tedious to follow. Why not in oz or cups to tsp or tbsp?

2 parts coconut milk to 1part lye you can put in everything exactly on soap calculator and it will tell you oil batch size and everything

How much water with the lye? Beautiful soap, I really want to make it but as I was writing it out and making my calculations for a 2 pound loaf I realized I didn’t have this number. Admittedly I might not know how to figure it out.
@need_officials_ Жыл бұрын
You can use soap calculator to figure it out. I'm from Malaysia, I use SoapLab Malaysia Soap Calculator, that write everything in gram. You may to try Brambleeberry Soap Calculator.

I use milk powders and blend into the oils before adding to lye. I’m never organised enough to pre freeze lol Do you take the purée weight out of the water/milk weight for the lye please?
@findlaycreeksoapcompany Жыл бұрын
I usually have a stash of frozen milks that my family complains is taking up too much space in our freezer! 😂 You can use a water discount to make up for the water in the pumpkin, but I didn’t bother. I used a 1.75-2:1 milk/lye ratio. To prevent overheating from the extra water, I kept the temperature of the oils and lye solution low (around 85F) and put it in the freezer or fridge to saponify. If you are concerned about overheating, I would recommend it. Better safe than sorry!

Beautiful soap, love it. What do you think mixing with the palette knife helps with the mica’s mixing? I’m not knocking it, just don’t understand. Keep making your great video’s! Hugz, Tree
@findlaycreeksoapcompany Жыл бұрын
Great question! Using the palette knife helps me feel confident that there are no tiny clumps of colourant when I mix them with the oils. I don’t find micas to be too clumpy, but I’ve had specks of Titanium Dioxide left behind in soaps before when I would only use a mini mixer (maybe because my mixer was not up to the task). Added bonus is that I find smooshing the colours to be very relaxing! ☺️

I do an ombré when dying fabric, and I use weight as my measure. Figuring out how many sections I want. And about halfway thru I lower my angle. And about 3/4 way thru, lowered it again. Then went flat. And the white specks look planned, so just say”I meant it that way!”

Very pretty! When you are mixing the micas, what oil are you using and does it play into your soap oil calculations?
@findlaycreeksoapcompany Жыл бұрын
Thanks! To mix my colours, I will either use some of the melted oils/butters from my batch or extra olive oil. I don’t make any adjustments to the calculations - it’s not much extra so it is just added to the super fat of the batch
@hadeethinspired4355 Жыл бұрын
Hi. Love your video. Any advice on how to convert the ingredient percentages to grams. Thanks
@findlaycreeksoapcompany Жыл бұрын
Thanks! For soap, I use a soap calculator like soapcalc.net. You can enter your recipe as percentages, set your batch size and lye concentration and the calculator will give you the weights of all the oils, water (or other liquid) and lye you need. Good luck! ☺️

There are lots of great oils to choose from, depending on the qualities/properties you are looking for in your lotion. Avocado would be a nice substitute. New Direction Aromatics has a lot of great info about carrier oils on their website - that is my go to place when looking for a substitute. Good luck!

Hi though the colours looked really nice but personal opinion swirls could have been better. My own experience with slightly quickly moving batter is to do spoon swirl, it comes out really nice. The trick is not to mix the colours. Soaping 101 has a very nice video on that.
