Welcome to Findlay Creek Soap Company!
Today I am making a new soap for our Findlay Creek collection. These soaps are named after streets and inspired by the natural beauty and diversity of our neighbourhood in south Ottawa, Canada.
This was the first time I used this particular fragrance oil in a full batch of soap, and even after testing it in a small sample ahead of time, it definitely held a couple tricks up it's sleeve! Fragrance oils can be notoriously troublesome when working with cold process soap. In the midst of the many chemical reactions that go into turning oils and lye into soap, some fragrances can cause more problems than they solve. Reading product reviews and keeping good notes are essential for me, with my memory like a sieve!
Recipe:
42% Olive Oil
25% Coconut Oil
10% Hemp Seed Oil

I use Soap Calc to determine the amounts of oils/butter, lye and water to include in the recipe, based on the above percentages
