GWR wheels from Gibson have a substantial front boss that extends beyond the rim of the wheel. The first job was to remove the excess boss so that it was level with the rim. I've used a GW wheel press for all my engines since I started building P4 chassis 30 years ago. I like systems that remove the chance of error. As I said in my introduction...it's just another method.

@@MikeGarwood2498 boiler ticket unfortunately - she got an extra years running in over and above what was expected. Spent the last 3 years at the Mid Hants - should you be interested, I documented her last day in service along with some of her best bits from the MHR: kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZpK3e4yPmtCsirM - I’m going to miss her and hope she is returned to traffic sooner rather than later

That blue is stunning. I was there when the loco was outshopped at Didcot back in 2012(?) and the paintwork and the lion and wheel emblem on the tender were beyond what I’d expected.

This is far too big to grace the exhibition scene. It originally started out as an end to end layout. Before I go any further, the layout is the work of one man - Robin Whittle - I’ve built stock and engines for him. And I visit usually once a month and take videos of my engines and stock. No. This is an engine shed. It’s a real location called Barrow Road in Bristol. You can see the coaling tower in most of the videos but the shed appears in only some of the wider shots. I’ll include some footage of the shed next month. Thanks for the interest Mike

@@MikeGarwood2498 Wow I'm impressed how you replaced your nem couplings with chains. You don't get buffer lock?

None of the wagons/vans are conversions. All are kit built, as are my coaches and engines. Most of the chassis are from the Rumney models range and are sprung. The others have sprung Bill Bedford W irons. Setting up the hooks and chains is easy, the buffers are scale and the links and hooks are scale. Just follow the dimensions. The biggest problem with these types of couplings is how tight they are in the coupling hook. This means that when they round corners they strain at the hook pulling the wagon/van off the road.
