I would love a part 2! Especially if you can recommend a book with 80’s vibes! 😊

for the bookshelf tour tou could go throught your shelf and pick your favourite one from each shelf. like explain your organization system and because each shelf usually has its own genre talk a bit about your taste in that specific genre/ subgenre and show your favourite "representative" of that shelf, the ones you've read, the ones you haven't..

Maybe if you do a tour of your bookself instead of talking about every book when showing a shelf, pick your favorite and explain why!

Bizarrely enough, bar Frankenstein, I’m not really one for creatures. Irish folklore (didn’t Joyce sort of rebel against that) I don’t mind. But…

You can do the bookshelf tour, by obviously first how you organised them & why u did it that way. Also, you can share your favourite book along the way from each shelf, will make it more interesting.... Doesn't matter if it's long. We'll love it.

Can you recommend a book that tells entrepreneur story, how a business or a project is built-up like in a novel as a fiction story? I enjoyed a lot reading “Tomorrow tomorrow tomorrow” as the business part was mentioned in detail but it was not all the book tells, its not in the centre that much-if that make sense.

I think you might really love The Doll Factory by Elizabeth Macneal. It's incredible, very atmospheric, all about art and obsession.

would love a bookshelf tour! you could just tell us about the history of the particular book, i. e. how you got it, how you feel about it, have you read it, if so would you reread it and so on

Loved this. Always keep recommending books. I followed your recommendation of The Offing earlier this year and I loved it and it's in my top 5 of all time. I would never have read it if it wasn't for you so thank you for talking about books like this even if they're not what anyone else is talking about ❤ Part 2 please 🙏

i'm a huge clarice lispector fan and "The Apprenticeship" is one of my faves of hers and underrated imo! also, the anthropologists by aysegul savas is a new release that is kind of that vibe of like minimal plot but a lot of nice writing and philosophical meditations

This is funny because there are some books in your recommendations that I loved and some that I really disliked. I loved The name of the wind, I agree it's one of the greatest fantasy novels I've ever read (although my favorite fantasy trilogy is a French trilogy called Ellana). By the way there's a fantasy author I think you would enjoy (but it's practicaly sure you know him already): David Gemell. I also love The perfume and The picture of Dorian Gray. The writing is so good in both these novels, the atmosphere is great, the moral reflexions are very interesting. But I hated The secret history. I didn't like the characters, they felt like rich entitled white kids and I thought the novel encouraged an amoral lifestyle if it was for the knowledge. I didn't like Women who run with wolves. It took me ages to read. It felt like every chapter was the same and it felt not practical at all. I added Bleuets, The Lonely city to my to read list (Mistborn is already on it). And while I'm at it I love your videos and vibe!

If you'd like a change of vibe in Shirley Jackson's writing you can try out her book Life among the savages, I believe it's a sort of diary that she keeps on her daily life as a mom with three kids, super cozy, fun, witty and emotional at times. Highly recommend!

"Creating art sort of feels like the outcome of years of collecting" Love this so much, Quirine, and I strongly relate to this idea! When I'm reading a book or watching a film it feels very purposeful; it feels as if I am working towards something if that makes sense. It's a lovely feeling because everything becomes important and meaningful.
@quirinebrouwer8 күн бұрын
I completely understand that feeling! It’s like your collecting pieces that inspire you - hunting and gathering art to pass on, haha
@Lisa-qt4hh11 күн бұрын
Such a lovely video, Quirine! The way you talk about books is very relaxing :) Also, your descriptions are very good! You describe what interested you and that is very contagious. The way you mention how a book seems like a combination of other books is also very helpful!

"Privileged white men" How perfectly contemporary american and irrelevant to the matter
@MilliPidi8 күн бұрын
As a white woman, I notice that there are many voices that have gone unheard because of the years a white man could easily find a pen and time and education to write his thoughts, while everyone else around him were significantly more disadvantaged, and many of these men never wrote of their sympathy for other's around him not having accessibility to the same. Even as a white woman, I see my privileges but cis men typically only complain now that it's pointed out. How irrelevant that you can only comment on a fact that is stated not a minute into the video, and now see the wisdom and creativity the creator has poured in her work.
