@@scottweedin7570 whenever you have the hood open give it a press! No need to do it super often. Make sure you have a little rag or towel when you press it. Sometimes you’ll get a little gear oil that comes out too.

Did you have to go with a small base circle cam to clear the rods?

The cam isn’t very aggressive and is an off the shelf Comp Cam. It was recommended for my set up but I didn’t have clearing the rods in mind at all actually!

I'm always impressed by those that can build it themselves! Unfortunately I don't have the tools or the knowledge to do it myself. I wish I had had AT LEAST started out with an inexpensive rolling chassis instead of buying an expensive car, then spending even MORE money on it to race it.

Mainly bracket racing the car. That’s some good times! I’m on E85 now and have been going 10.3’s in the 1/4 and 6.40’s in the 1/8 at elevation. We race at about 5000ft of air most summer. Went down to sea level and was able to get into the 10.16’s in the 1/4!

I took my 72 Nova out yesterday for the first time this year just to test and tune. I run 10.9s. I rolled into the tech line and someone informed me to just turn in my tech card at the front gate and they have not been teching cars all season. Wtf? Lol
@PLANBRACING
@PLANBRACING Ай бұрын
Some places are definitely more strict than others that’s for sure. There’s a rural Nevada track that didn’t tech my car this year because they remembered me being there last year lol. Not a big deal to me because I feel confident that my car will pass tech at any track but I’d hate to see someone get hurt because they cut corners.

I think the best way to get into drag racing is for people to put their ego down And just buy a car that's already built. I see them sold for $0.30 on the dollar quite often. And that's not counting all the labor somebody put into it.

Some words of advice, brotha. Invest in a practice tree asap. And if you already have one, I'd guess you're counting down the tree? Try practicing getting comfortable staring deep into the 3rd amber, and reacting off the flash. I made the switch around 2015 and my RT grouping instantly became notably tighter. Over the last 9 years or so I've honed that skill to the product you see today. Hit me up any time though bro. Love the content, and always more than willing to help.
@PLANBRACING
@PLANBRACING 2 ай бұрын
Thanks man! I have a handheld practice tree but I don’t think it does the trick quite as well as a full one. I’d love to be able to sit in the car and practice that way! I noticed in your NightFire video that you could literally feel what your light was before even looking at a time slip. That’s goals for sure! Also, I just moved my trans brake button into a similar position as yours and already feel more comfortable in the car. I won’t be using so many muscle groups to let go of the button now and will be more of a wrist movement!
@RobersonRacingIncTV
@RobersonRacingIncTV 2 ай бұрын
@PLANBRACING Absolutely! Being able to "call your shot" gives you a huge advantage while going down track. Makes decision making at the stripe much easier! And being comfortable in the seat is also a huge component!
