A lot of these techniques involve bending the fingers and wrists in the direction they're not supposed to go. There's no "chi magic" involved, just good ol' knowing what hurts and what doesn't.

That's really painful, and needs a lot of strength to be inflicted to whack, hold down and restrain a suspect, or to cause enough pain to force an aggressor to give up putting on resistance.

Been a cop in Amsterdam's Red-light District and for decades known to be the roughest part in The Netherlands. The shown techniques work, the negative, inexperienced comments are but hot air. Respect for Sensei Gordon Muller ...

If they're faking, they should be put into a mental institution. If they're not faking, the tori should seek therapy. Either way, this is insane.

Aikido, krav maga, kapap and other martial arts first teach you get out of line of fire. Place a finger on the trigger and chances are even if you take a gun off the assailant guy, a bullet goes off. First thing always try to avoid disarming someone, but if you are compelled to do it, be prepared to get shot, so move in a way that a bullet if shot dotted not hit vital parts (such as head, liver, heart).

if a knife ever comes at you in convenient straight lines like that consider yourself very very very very very lucky. and consider yourself just as lucky if, while trying to apply above techniques, the attacker doesn't flinch and move unexpectedly and slice your hand open.

Aikido is the best Martial Art for cops especially disarming and handcuffing. I'm from the Philippines we have our version of Combat Aikido the name is TAPONDO. The word Tapondo came from Filipino dialects (Tagalog and ilonggo) Tapon(throw) and Pondo(lock). It is now recognized as FMA (Filipino Martial Art).

Gordon I have been doing MA for 43 years JJ which as you know is the grandfather of Aikido and teaching 33 of those years. After observing your video I will say anyone learning from you can not only be satisfied in knowing they are getting their money's worth, but have an excellent chance of getting out of a jam if the situation arises, with a high degree of success, utilizing your training. Not often I say these things about many teachers out there. But Very Well Done Sensei God Bless.OOSU

good skills, very quick but not much control of the gun.. i am taught to always have that gun pointed back at your opponent or straight in the air to avoid accidental discharge and also the most important bit is to parry that gun to the side of you usind a sdie step and blocking action before you try to snatch at it, get you body out the way or get shot!!

Lets take a look at those "technics" as you call them. Those attacks are not even aimed at the target area. Weak attack= weak defense: simple as that. Now look at the noises the sensei makes. That does nothing for the "technic" its just for show (along with the James Bond music). As for teaching the police. Police are trained to use firearms, spray, baton and tasers. Im sure unarmed restraint training varies across the different departmants in the US. I can see this is not good,so can others.

Neither. Its a load of fake rubbish. The noises they are both making is just for dramatic effect. I have never heard any uki make that noise, (in neither Aikido, Aikijitsu of jujitsu.) Never heard a sensei do that either, (except cartoons, pantomines etc. The James Bond soundtrack also adds to the performance (not demonstration). I would be interested to know who he is affiliated to.

If their fingers are stronger than the combined force of both the aiki-user's wrist and arms then there's no reason they shouldn't be able to, oh and they would also have to have extremely precise muscle control to render all force placed on them null instead of meeting with an opposite movement. So given that a person is a genetic freak of nature and very skilled, it wont work on them.
