@antiquebookcollective11 күн бұрын
I'm glad you're interested in all of that! Sadly there aren't a lot of books that I've read on this, I've mostly just studied history, stuff on the subject, and more. That being said, there are some books that I'd recommend including The Art of War (war and business have many similarities), As I See It by John Paul Getty, and Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki. Those help teach you the mindset that you need plus some good skills. As for the farming aspect, I'm currently reading The Living Soil Handbook by Jesse Frost, it is just about i.proving soil health and ecological farming, but, based on my thousands of hours of research, soil is everything, as such, soil is my focus at present and has been the focus of my experiments as well. Much of what I has learned truly has been from many hundreds of sources across many different fields. My primary area of focus for learning how to be a "baron" is from studying information far and wide about families who have generational wealth that lasts at least 4 or so generations, a lot of this research has been on KZbin. I have a slew of recommended channels on my channel where a lot of this can be learned! I hope that gets you on the right direction, sorry I can't be of more help.

Maybe a good idea to invest in US mining, and Australian mines, as China's response to our tariffs will be to stop or limit rare Earth metals, needed for our future tech. Do you need a local permit for that tobacco? Cigars are made from certain tobacco plants and if you get to East Coast, Tampa area, there are a few places that still hand roll the sticks.
@antiquebookcollective11 күн бұрын
Agreed! The Australian mining space has been making some awesome leaps and bounds as well--I would just like to see them get more on-shore refining as well because most of their stuff is shipped off to China to be refined right now. Big missed opportunity, if you ask me. Of course, I get they do it because they're making good money still, but I am a bit of a protectionist and like to see at least a strategic level of refining maintained in any given country, just in case. (And I'd like that done by the company under their own volition, not under the dictate of the powers that be.) For me, I'm currently invested almost entirely in mining right now. :) I didn't need one to grow mine--I didn't know any states needed to! (The ATF doesn't care if you grow it for personal use.) But it does look 4 states do require it back east, go figure. Now I have a new fun fact! Lol Yeah, I grew Havana Gold, which is supposed to be a great wrapper for cigars. Also tried to grow Virginia Gold, which is supposed to be a good filler, but it failed to thrive. I look forward to rolling a few! Still not about to smoke them, but I'll be happy to look at them! :)

So, i put a smelly old book in the ftrezer for four days. Now, I have an old, smelly book that spent four days on ice.
@antiquebookcollective11 күн бұрын
But now it's a COOL book! (Sorry, I had to crack a pun.) For me, I've never been a fan of the freezer method to get rid of stink. I think I've done it a grand total of one time because so many people said to do it online. I had no luck there, but I did like it for dealing with mold. If I were in your shoes, I'd just leave the book open in a room with an air purifier if you have it. If you don't, I'd still air the book out like that, but it'll take a while longer. I'd leave it open halfway through the book and, if you don't have an air purifier, I'd stick a little Pyrex bowl full of baking soda beside it. Maybe a bowl of vinegar beside it as well, if you know it won't get spilled. Those could help reduce the smell faster. (I'll have to test out doing it with an onion as well since those do the trick for getting rid of the stink in refrigerators.) Hope that helps!

Any thoughts on folks selling their metal stacks for funds to buy Crpto? Bitcoin says they have only "mined" so many "coins" and demand is rising. I don't own any crypto, as I like tangible assets.

I actually follow some people who do just that--*2 is 1* is a great channel for that. He recently sold some of his stack to buy Bitcoin to cash in on what he expected to be a Trump win. I think it's a great, albeit possibly risky, choice where someone can really up their purchasing power and add to their stack when they do things right though! As a quick aside, I'll be curious if they eventually admit that Bitcoin is not digital gold though as it trades as a high beta risk-on trade. For me, I can't do Crypto for a set of reasons, but I do like to keep an eye on things. But I'm a tangible fellow myself, so I'm more than happy with my shiny. :)

For me I've just had enough luck getting into them. Honestly, I might need to do a video on it. Long story short, I have always looked for these because I'm a Christian, but I really got turned onto them for reselling because of my stint as an FBA scanner where I saw the new ones held so much value. One thing led to another during all of that and I was grabbing antiques and eventually I discovered the niche of antique Christian being a big moneymaker for me. From there it was just establishing the best places to get more of those same sorts of books. (I'll have to keep that a secret until the video though! Lol)

@antiquebookcollective20 күн бұрын
Glad you liked it! I have not and will not ever store books in Ziplocks for long term storage because I've seen plastic ruin enough items after being in contact with them for an extended period of time. All of the things I've seen were irreparably damaged or marred due to plastic which does not last forever in any way shape or form. In short, I don't recommend it and won't be testing it out myself! Hope that helps. :)

@antiquebookcollective Thank you for your reply! Also i wanted to ask you, what do you think about storing comics/books in those anti acid plastic bags? I have seen lots of videos doing this.
@antiquebookcollective19 күн бұрын
@gaku95 I have seen those and seen comics that have been in those bags for 30 to 40 years without issue, which I suppose is pretty good! A lot of my concerns arose because of things like the old PVC coin holders, low grade plastics, and other such ones that people used that broke down and the effect of that ruined, damaged, or marked what they were supposed to protect. For me, I tend to revert to the old way of things as often as possible because even the "tested" new things aren't tested enough. I want a hundred years of testing if I am working with something a hundred years old because it's tried and true. Might not be the best, but it's a known risk. That's just me though! :)

eBay has been messing around with offers a lot over the last few months. Some offers come through with immediate payment, others come with a promise to tell the buyer that they need to pay in 4 days. Still others are like you describe, the item is still available and no one has a claim on it until it’s paid. Another thing I found recently was that offers that I send out now expire in 96 hours instead of 48. eBay hasn’t done a goo job of communicating any of this, which is frustrating. In the end I hope they give sellers control over these aspects (whether / when payment is required and how long offers are open for).

So, i have 18 "nice" books (leather? or cloth, embossed with designs) that had been in my parents home, which had gotten infested with mold. I sealed them in plastic bags with baking soda, but then unfortunately, had no room in my home--so they stayed in a box in the garage for 3 years 🤦♀️. So, dumb move, i know. Definite strong smell and white spots on the gold-edged pages (a couple have a green moire cloth on the inside cover). I have them all standing on end, pages open as much as possible, theyve beenbout there for 2 hours. Will this be enough, or do i have to expose each page to the sunlight? Im also still smelling "the smell" ☹️ Thanks!
@antiquebookcollectiveАй бұрын
If you're willing to do whatever it takes to save them, then I'd be sure to air the books out outside in the sun to allow the UV rays to kill off a lot of the mold. There will be no getting it all, but you can slow the decay. I'd also invest in an ozone generator (under 100 bucks) and leave the books in a room with that machine running, it'll take care of most of the smell, if not all. You might have to open the books to, say, the beginning, then middle, then end for the best results there, but it'll take care of the stink AND kill mold too. All told, your bill to save all of those books, all of those memories, and a lot more will be under a hundred bucks, but you'll have to put in a lot of time cleaning them off too. ...And, if you promise to not tell any angry book conservators, I have had luck wiping down each and every page of a book down with a semi-damp Clorox wipe after the ozone treatment. Just know, those chemicals DO cause some damage, but for the ease of use and accessibility to lay people as ourselves, it can be a good one-time hit to do everything you can to stop the spread of the mold. :) Hope that helps!
