Hey ehcya! Whenever i try linking/appending swingy bones to another blend file it doesn't work. I've used the documentation guide and followed it one to one, I've made sure all the names are the same when importing, but nothing seems to work. Currently I am using Blender 4.0 for this, but i've also tried doing it in 3.6 a few months ago. Maybe im just not doing it right or im misreading a step, but a short video on how to do this would definetely help 🙏

Could you create an updated tutorial for the addon focusing on its most common issue? When using viewport render animation, I'm unable to see the result, and when exporting the animation, the hair appears glitchy..

Nice Addon for blender! By the way do you have an idea of importing or exporting bone chains/collider/link/limits data? I am working on the environment which uses import and export options frequently, and that data doesn't seems like importing when I do importing/exporting. I've tried parameter options for importing the data, but it doesn't work for loading existed data from original definition. +I found the way on your docs. Thank you for your documentation.

this addon is crazy and i’m in love with it omg potential suggestion though, i’m not sure if it’s already a feature i missed - id love for collisions with non armature things (ie environment objects) in the future !

Thank you for your comment, it means a lot! You're right, collision with other objects is currently not possible in a non hacky way, I'll see if I can find a good way to implement this is a way that doesn't kill performance! In the meantime what you can potentially do is create an armature for the world (you wouldn't even need to rig anything, just add it) and then add collision shapes to the different environment props by adding collision volumes to the root bone of this armature. and moving them around You could actually even optimize the computation time a bit by using the collision channels. Let me know if this is not clear!

Hello Alejandro, The connection constraint is due to stability, as it provides a reliable way to maintain the distance between two consecutive bones. Hello adekun, The addon has an option to force the simulation during rendering, if you have some trouble using it please reach out to me using the Blender market's message system (you don't need to buy the addon for that, you can use the contact button on the addon page) so we could share screenshots/videos more easily and I'll be happy to elaborate!

Good question, I will try it asap and will keep you updated. From what I'm seeing on the Python API diff page it should be fine but I'm going to check properly and add the 4.2 tag to the blendermarket page if everything works fine.

Hey, you can connect bones very easily by selecting them and clicking on "connected" in the bone properties while holding the ALT key! @@frenchinator1436 Just to make sure that I understand correctly: -If you want to create some bone chains and then send the rig with non baked chains to someone else (that doesn't have the addon), it will not work in terms of previewing and simulation on their side since all the logic necessary for that is put in the addon file. -If you mean that you're working with a someone that provides you a "base" rig on which you want to append some physics, an easy way to do so would be to create your own armature and use the "child of" constraint to link the two on your setup. -If you mean that you want to send some finished animation to another person that doesn't have the plugin then a possible way would be to bake the simulation to keyframes with the associated operator Let me know what exact case you're in exactly and I'll be glad to help more! Also feel free to continue this conversation in Blender Market's DMs (even if you bought it on gumroad) using the "contact creator" button, we'll be able to exchange more easily and share screenshots there!

You can bake the simulation to skeletal animations that can then be exported to Unity, is that what are you aer asking?

I am considering about buying and using this addon for awhile, I am not sure if you could key frame, disable/enable and manually control the physic bones whenever you want. For example I want to make hairs stand up like cats do when surprised, or act like ears/appendages then resume to their physic sim. Is it possible to achieve such thing? Or you know, like tails switching between idle physic and manual motion. Another question is that, would you recommend merging it with the Rigify rigs or is it best to just keep them separate?

That's actually a great idea, something similar to Unreal Engine's notify states basically, I'll see what I can do in future updates! As for your second question it wouldd be up to you but I think keeping the simulated armature separate is probably better as you may want to regenerate the rig from the metarig later if you want to add more bones. In any case definitely feel free to reach out to me using the Blender market message system (you don't need to buy the addon for that) so we could share screenshots/videos more easily and I'll be happy to elaborate to help you decide whether or not the addon would be helpful for your use cases!

Yeah bones from a chain need to be connected! You can do that very easily by selecting all the bones from the future chains (except the utmost parent) then go to bone properties->relations, hold the ALT key and click on "connected". there is a bug that after applying swingy bones you can still see the animation in viewport normally but rendering does not show the frames not even after being baked the whole armature stops showing the rendered movement

so i have been having a problem lately with applying scale to armature usually that breaks the model and even after going all the trouble of applying scale to the model the addon still requieres me to scale it breaking even more the model. this makes that while the model is visibly moving in the viewport it does not in the render For example i animated the tail of a dog girl and when i used the addon the tail is animated in the viewport and in the render but the rest of the armature breaks and cannot be seen animated in the render

btw i have the addon but i hope you can add more shapes on the bone chains? a sphere doesnt work well with the skirts but a cube/rectangle would be a better addition. also please add a way to edit the shapes so we can shape them the way we want.

Sorry I somehow didn't get the notification! The tricky part is to make collision detection fast enough and considering what the Blender API offers me I have to balance a lot of design decisions to make it work fast enough! I'm planning to do some experiments to potentially add support for more collision profiles and see if I can find a good way that would work fine in a variety of setups. However don't be worried, these sphere and cylinder shapes are widely used by big AAA studios like Capcom, Square Enix, Bandai Namco etc to simulate a big variety of meshes (from dresses, jackets, hair etc etc) so it's definitely possible to make it work! :) Boxes are usually avoided to more expensive computation and the fact that they can get stuck or rotate the associated vertices in an un-natural way. This is indeed realtime simulation (you can check out the other videos in this channel to see how you set it up) but it all happens on the CPU as the blender python API doesn't expose the necessary functions to make things run on the GPU!

Hello accountx200! The best option as of now, since the pendant would be constrained to 2 root bones, would be to have a 2 chains, one with the pendant and the other one shorter with the last bone linked to the first chain to preserve the overall shape. It's not ideal but depending on your needs it could be enough.
