Not exactly what I was looking for. But definitely gonna use your method in my project! Planning on making a door on my 3D printer enclosure with a LCD panel showing some stats and to limit the lightspill into the room. Got a ringlight for the camera keeping a watch on the print and clear acrylic doors. Have allready done the computer sidepanel and now I figured having a door on my printer like this would look awesome. If you're still around, awesome job at this!

Would it be possible to set up raspberry pi to randomly select a video on boot as an animated wallpaper and also switch wallpapers after a certain time playing in background while it’s running? Love your videos by the way they helped me a lot with my side panel lcd build. Thanks for any help you can give.

I haven't tried myself, but in sure it is, you would have to write some additional code though.

Sorry to bug again just curious would it be possible to set up my random wallpapers in 15 min incriminates? (That is to change every fifteen minutes or will it do it hourly only?)
@OnePixelataTime4 жыл бұрын
@@Neoj-dl6tw It depends on the script you write, the one I put together was really simple, stretch a video to fit the screen automatically from corner to corner upon boot. However, it was predetermined what it would play. I would change the script based on what I wanted to display. I'm sure you can type up script that can do that, but you need to know what you're doing. It doesn't sound all too complicated, you just need to figure what does what.

Great solution, u got me switching from direct GPU connection to RPI. For the people that wanna plug their RPI to their Transparent side panel. Search @ adafruit for Video Looper. Its easier and more user friendly when changing sets of loops.

I came out very nice, one thing I have tried moving away from is purchasing monitors to take them apart. I started using LCD board controllers that are made for whichever screen I'm using. Of course it cost more, but the implementation in my opinion is much simpler and cleaner. But great job, very clean and professional finish.

@OnePixelataTime5 жыл бұрын
My original set up had it set up to where it was a 3rd screen, so part of my desktop. I achieved this by running a cable from my graphics card to the screen. Wallpaper Engine was what I used for that set up. For my current beta set up, it's using a raspberry pi. I have a tutorial posted up that explains the whole process as to how I rip the video from wallpaper engine and run it on my RaspPi.

That looks awesome! That is exactly how I thought it would be done. I've used an old 15" LCD for a home made projector with an overhead projector. Its pretty much the same concept. I would definitely like to do the, but my MC500P case would take a lot more work and maybe a bigger screen to make it look right

Not gonna lie, I've thought about that before, but from what I recall, a projector would output too much heat, no to mention, if looking at it from an angle, the light from the projector would hit you.

So... I have a question. I heard that if you have an USB Monitor, it helps a ton because you can plug it in and you have power + videosignal. Now, is that only the case for USB 3.0 monitors? I saw a dell with 2 USB 2.0 plugs, do you know if that would work too? I don't wanna solder :I
@OnePixelataTime5 жыл бұрын
As you probably know, USB monitors pull their power from a usb port. If the monitor you own isn't a USB monitor, then the usb ports it has build it won't power it as that isn't their purpose. I didn't solder my monitor in, I used Twist-on wire connectors to connect everything, the only soldering I did was with the LED lights. Does this help?
@Nemain_5 жыл бұрын
@@OnePixelataTime Thank you so much! I didn't know about these twist-on thingies, this makes it so much easier! The connection to get it to work is just trial and error, right?
@OnePixelataTime5 жыл бұрын
@@Nemain_ That's what worked in my case, trial and error, just be careful; looking at the circuit board could help, sometimes the wire labels give directions as to what powers what.

got two questions, I have a Corsair Carbide 275R Tempered Glass case, can I just mount the LCD to temper glass panel ? does there need to be a small gap or the closer the better ? and last question will my LCD display normally on 90% angle like the one in the video or do I need to set it up so whatever I display, display properly?
@OnePixelataTime5 жыл бұрын
Sure, if you can find a way to keep the LCD screen in place, I don't see why not; the closer the better. Some screens have different viewing angle degrees horizontally and vertically, rotating your screen90 degrees could or could not reduce the viewing angle, this varies by monitor. downloads.monoprice.com/files/images/ViewingAngle.jpg All this means is, if your monitor doesn't have a large viewing angle, seeing it from too far off the side won't look as good as seeing it directly.
