The D25LR was almost twice as bright as the H version, they changed the driver to a cheap design, but it's still worth the money.

Q8plus is too heavy and too thick for hands. What to choose, q8pro, if30, sp33v3, sp36, or something else? Prefer a floody light but with far distance too?

I love this light, it's so small you hardly notice it, and it really packs a punch! I like how smooth ramping includes Turbo, so you can get max power from off with one click, not two. The ramping is too fast, but no biggie. I use it with a wide floody headlamp (HS21 - a 9.5/10 light) to check the distance when I'm walking my dogs, they're a great combo and cost about £50 in total! Nice review, thanks!

I think Sofirn struck pay dirt with the SR12. It's just slightly longer than my SC32 and is a surprisingly decent thrower like my Convoy S8, Wurkkos TD03 and FC12 - only shorter and lighter in weight. Earlier production units had SFT-25R emitters that were visibly green in tint, so I politely requested the Sofirn official store to send me one that has the least green cast. They honored my request! 😀
@MrSimonj19707 күн бұрын
@StratmanII I got lucky, mine is a lovely pure white.

I've got the original Q8 with 4X 18650 and rarely use it due to the weight. The other problem you can see in the beamshots - it's so bright close to you that it blinds you for distance vision! A very modest thrower would be more useful IRL. If you want to impress your friends it's great, but a single battery light is much nicer to use IMO.
@NewFrontier9010 күн бұрын
17:30 regarding the ramping down to a lower level. I think this is more a battery issue with your own unit. Mine arrived today very impressed it can mantain full brightness for about 10 mins and then goes into a lower power mode. I put a generic 18650 imr battery in fully charged and it ramped own power almost straight away. Interesting
@StratmanII10 күн бұрын
Richard, that's odd. My SR12 arrived yesterday and it comes with a magnetic tail cap. This flashlight's CCT is about 6000K - not as cool white as my Wurkkos FC12's 6500K SFT-40 nor as golden warm like my Convoy S8 with a 5000K SFT-25R. For a flashlight that's kind of short and stubby, I find the SR12 quite impressive. Although the S8's reflector is deeper than the SR12, the Sofirn's throw is just as good. My guess is that yours is from the earliest batch which didn't come with the magnetic tail cap. I don't remember if the earliest demos of the SR12 that were given to KZbin reviewers mentioned the magnetic tail cap, but from the beginning we all knew about the SR12's buck driver and the introduction of the Luminus SFT-25R emitter. 🙂

Mine had a magnetic tailcap.
@StratmanII8 күн бұрын
@@FlashlightTech I guess whoever was assembling that tail cap had forgotten to insert the magnet. I've purchased optional magnetic tail caps from Sofirn before and they have the same exact design as the one that came with your SR12. The employee probably had his/her mind on the Chinese New Year holidays. 🙂

I've had 2 due to first one being faulty, both were magnetic. My last Sofirn order came without a battery and they refused to send me one, only offered a refund which was no use to me as I bought it on Sale and would have had to buy another at full price, so they are a bit unreliable.

The 24 pro seems one of the most interesting model on the market now, finally an easy UI / controls with 18650 battery 😃👍 (21700 are too big, heavy and cumbersome 👎). Compatibility with x2 cr123 as back up will be a great upgrade in the future. It should be able also to have a mechanical lock, by simply unturn battery cap, for backpack storage (not a fan of electronic lock, too complex). Simple and effective with the best battery 18650 😃👍 I will test one soon.

Just so say this video is fantastic. Love how you show the distance on google maps. I’d suggest showing the distance with a text overlay on screen so it’s easier to see on mobile. Also, leave text on screen a few seconds longer. I’m a fast reader but had to rewind and pause several times to read the text. Great vid though

It is great for what it is. A very small EDC pocket light with high CRI in 4000k and 6000K too, Anduril 2 with RGB now AUX lights, low thermal mass and inexpensive. Much better than my Lumintop FWAA. I currently own 4 of them, plus the new single emitter SFT25R that rocks.

Thorough review, thanks! These are great for close work, tent. Battery life is short so I use these at first two settings or low on the ramp setting. When on high, the light gets fairly hot but the heat does not go through the headband and rubber carrier. As with all flashlights, the light is ramped down as the flashlight heats up. I use a 3 inch piece of double-sided velcro. I place the rough/hook side of the velcro to the headband where the rubber holder is. The velcro sticks strongly to the headband. This makes the headband even more comfortable. I buy several and keep them in my cars and garage, and house in the emergency/power outage box.

Very nicely done review, Richard. I like your overhead drone shots as they help me understand the beam profiles from a vertical perspective. 🔦👍🏼 It got myself a TD01c as my birthday present. It was priced just a little bit more than the older TD01, so I went for the one with the buck circuit driver. Initially I thought of getting the Sofirn SF26 but I think the latter also has a linear FET driver. 🤔 A few people commented that the TD01C is the replacement for the TD01 but apparently that isn't true. Wurkkos is still selling the FET driven TD01 model alongside the TD01C. Several months back the price difference between the two was big enough to sway budget minded buyers into getting the regular TD01, but in November Wurkkos brought the TD01C's price tag down. I compared the TD01C with my other two TIR optics throwers - the Wurkkos TS11 and the Sofirn IF22A. The TD01C obviously has a more intense hot spot, but in terms of practicality I think I would carry the Sofirn IF22A more frequently. That said, after my curiosity has been quenched I don't think I'll buy another thrower like the TD01C. I realized that I prefer high powered flooders than throwers with pencil like beams! 😀

Hallo L.R.O, thanks for your detailed review. I also read your review on BLF. I have an HS10, I really like it for its compact size, and USB-C. LH351D 4000K, the beam is quite nice. Overall a great little light. Except for the mushy button/switch cover, it's so bad I can feel the internal switch components when pressing it. It's horrible, it feels *cheap*. Now I've done the button mod, adding a plastic sheet spacer below the rubber cover, on top of the switch. It's a really really HUGE improvement IMO IME. Now the button press feels so much nicer, firm, crisp. I can't believe how good it is with this simple mod. This is how it should've come from the factory.
