I started milling with the MS400 C-M and a Granberg MK IV mill. The 400 has done a great job but I’m worried about over working it so I decided after much research and thought to get the MS 661 C-M. I’m so excited to get the new saw and do some serious milling.

You might want to have a looking at this young fella and his dad to be Stihl ambassadors. Thr young fella is 11yo!!! Him and his dad go around cleaning up sidewalks so they are accessable by people who need them. They dont get paid for it. They use average tools to get it done. These are the kind of people you should have using your tools. 1. Whipper snipper 2. Blower 3. Hedge trimmer 4. Edger Look up... Rake It Till We Make The young fella knows he wants to be a landscaper. At 11!!! You need to get on this ASAP!!!

Don’t change it to winter unless it’s drastically cold I have 4 of these saws some people think they should be switched when it’s only a little cool an it will make the carburetor turn the saw speed down if there the computerized carburetor!!

Helps once the saw has had time to run and warm up. If you wait long enough for it to cool down you’re right back to square one.

Is the open position on the shudder for summer use or winter use?
@Spha_gatsheni12 күн бұрын
Open is for winter to prevent condensation from building up on the carb and heat up the air making it easy to combust
@JaegerWrenching12 күн бұрын
Open allows warm air to enter into the carb inlet. This prevents freezing up of the carb in winter.
@StihlRunnin12 күн бұрын
Calling the summer winter shutter a feature is laughable at best. Almost worthless.

Was there a big change at Stihl after the 200t? All the top handles since then have been unimpressive. The competition seems to have a better understanding of what most climbers want.

I feel there’s still a reason to purchase the 200 over the 250 - I bought hip comfort plate and adapters thinking I’d roll with the 200. I wish y’all had thought of that hip plate for the 250.

There's probably more than a hundred videos showing how to sharpen a chainsaw but none instructs where to apply the pressure with the file. You make it perfectly clear and I thank you.

After getting it going at half throttle, I had to release the chain brake before I put it to regular operating mode or it would just cut out every time. (The first few times I tried to start it, just like this video, it cut out at regular operating mode immediately (when the chain brake was wtill on) and a wisp of smoke would come out)!! Not too happy with that video or the start sequence of the Stihl in general.

The best way in my personal opinion is to full choke crank it if it doesn’t hit in 3 cranks something’s not right but as soon as it hits take the choke completely off hold the gas down crank it should start first crank or 2nd crank as soon as it starts turn the chain break off and rev it up a few times unless your saw is one of those that has to idle a few minutes to pre set everything also if u use regular unleaded gas mixed with oil then your saw won’t run right unless it’s a pro idk but u gotta use 100 percent gas mixed with oil in order for it to run correctly if its not a pro saw idk about farm boss saws thou

Dont rev it up with the brake on but go ahead and start it see if u rev it up with the break on it’s the equivalent of pulling up behind a vehicle in park and trying to push them your gonna tear your transmission up no matter how good it is u know

Stihl 24av owner 25 years. Imagine a ran over saw with a bent main plastic chassis. No one's talking how. Took it apart 100%. Put chassis in boiling water for many many minutes. Took it out and quickly clamped it to a heavy steel angle. Let it cool slowly. Pre-assembled and works great today. That was 10 years ago.

If you use your saw often. Do yourself a favor and purchase a Stihl Carbide tip chain. You will not regret the purchase price once you start working with it. I cut for 3mo straight 6 days a week averaging 6.5hrs a day for 2 yrs without needing chain to be sharpened. Very good chain with sharpness retained cutting mostly Locust,W&R Oaks,hard maples,Hickory,and Walnut trees. I'll never go back to a Standard Chain as long as Carbide Chains are for my model of saws. Work SAFELY and have FUN while cutting!!!

Just bought a Pro Mark helmet, and chaps today. I'm 70 years old, and feel I've lucked out so far, except a little nick (which could have been a lot worse) on my knee years ago. Better to have it, and not need it, than to need it, and not have it. Beats a lot of pain, and a big hospital bill.
