Bullshit Hollywood has always tried to Demonize African Spirituality because of what happened in Hati the black slaves rose up and freed themselves against their French Oppressors and a they got away from the Roman Catholic white Jesus and prayed the the Yoruba God of War Ogun to give them the Strength to overcome their Oppressors. So since then the Western world has Always tried to Demonize African Spirituality because they don't want us being connected to our power. They want us in Church worshipping under the Greco-Roman Version of the Gospel which is the White mans version but in actuality Christianity is a East African Religion the first Christians were Ethiopian. The Prophet Yashua that is referred too as the son of the Creator in the Ancient Hebrew text was a Ethiopian Jew. But there is nothing Evil about Papa Legba he is not associated with the Devil or anything Demonic.

*Crossroads* (1986) Guy Killum as _Young Willie Brown_ Joe Morton as _Scratch's Assistant_ Robert Johnson (born May 8, 1911 - died August 16, 1938) was a Blues guitarist who supposedly sold his soul to the Devil in exchange for mastery of the guitar. His career only lasted from 1932 to 1938 and he had only achieved fame 7 months before his death but he is considered one of the greatest Delta Blues musicians.

As a Catholic, who tries to be a good Catholic, never make a deal with the devil. The devil is a liar and will only make you miserable.
@chidoquest8759 Жыл бұрын
Taking his last 2 dollars is very symbolic. The devil takes everything from you that he possibly can, even your bottom dollar, leave you destitute with nothing and vanish with it like he was never there. In the end you end up soulless with nothing, the devil drains every bit of life from you.

It's kind of strange that the Devil's assistant can create and offer contracts on his behalf, but not void them on his behalf. Otherwise, he would have been the one to offer the wager to Willie instead of just talking to them before the Devil himself shows up!

Legba/the Man at the Crossroads is a "real" spirit from African and African American mythology whose whole purpose was to play tricks on people and get them into bad situations based on their own actions. When black people got to the US and adopted Christianity, they began referring to the crossroads man as the devil. Of course it's just a movie and there's no way of knowing the writers intention, but knowing the real life lore behind the character, it's safe to assume that no real logic went into the contract and everything about it only exists for the purpose of making things harder on the people who sign it.

charlesbodie4557 . . . he sure did. But, they all played their parts impeccably. I think the guy who played Legba stole the show; he was both convincingly charismatic and terrifying at the same time. This film is a bit of a masterpiece, imo, and gets better with age. The climax of the guitar duel is just the icing on the cake. Steve Vai & Ry Cooder battling it out -- what could be better? Excellent stuff!
