Full marks for fortitude. Traditional yes, exhausting, very. It goes on... and on... and on.... I'd rather watch than dance it!

Thank you. Just a lovely dance as well as tune. Back more years than I care to remember, I was on the Los Angeles chapter of RSCDS demonstration team. Although we learned and performed more advanced dances, my favorite has always been “flowers of Edinburgh” great dance for flirting and inserting a little highland setting step. Also “Reel Of The 51st Division”. We learned that one from the late Duncan McLeod, who visited our chapter when he was doing a world tour as the new chairman. He was in the 51st division and went into the bag as POW by the Japanese and survived. The soldiers created that manly reel to maintain physical fitness and morale builder. This video is 12 years old as of this comment, I hope all is well with you and are still enjoying dancing. Greetings from Americae 🇺🇸 🇦🇺

This was all great fun at Christmas at school in England. When the weather was bad we’d do this instead of games outside.

This is so sad and melancholic...!! They are NOT even dancing. Where is the joy and fanfare!! Sad, try harder. 💜💜

This and Highland Scotisch ? were always popular. The Gay Gordons was used as a mixer in the third movement the pairs parted the man stepped back and joined the lady behind.

I doubt very much that they are gay. Men wearing skirts are transvestites and not necessarily homosexual.

I had to do Scottish country dancing at my Scottish school and basically we would get both of or hands cross them and then hold on to each other and we went really fast and who ever let go first go fuckin’ launched across the room and my mates had a bunch of bruises lmao as I was amazing at holding on

I hated doing this in school (30 years ago). The main reasons being... ‘why are we having this weird dancing imposed on us? What is it? Does everyone do this?’ Schools should have taught us about our heritage and why traditional folk music and dancing is so important and is an integral part of who we and our previous generations are/were. Not sure about the rest of Scotland but my school never taught us about our own history. It just felt like end of year is coming so we have to do some shitty dancing thing in PE to impress parents for the end of year show.
