To go there you need to pass the DLAB. Ito qualify for all languages you need to do well. Otherwise you get weeded out. Look for the new DLAB study guide by Sam G Newmann.

I used the NEW DLAB study guide for 2023 onward, by Sam Newmann. Very similar to the test and I got 120+ Much higher recommednation than the older ones. Covers more info but also similar rules to the test.

I graduated from DLIWC in 1967 ....Albanian was my language course. I was in the Air Force so we didn't go through all of the military hassles like PT, KP, etc. that the Army and Marines had to deal with. ....it was a nice and comfy experience for about a year. A fond memory.

Im a prior service. It says the bonus to reclass to 35P is 72k for 6 yrs contract. Is it true? How do they give it after grad to AIT? Is it lumpsum ? and how much is the cash one and the percent they will deduct on bonuses?

Thanks for the throwback memories! My Army family was stationed at the Presidio before taking a command near Stuttgart, W. Germany. I tagged along to NorCal having just graduated HS in Alexandria, Va. Our family was assigned a single family home with a view of the Bay. We enjoyed lovely walks to Cannery Row and we watched otters from the shoreline. I took my own daughter back to Monterey and the Presidio while road-tripping, post 9/11, in 2005. They allowed no access and they took a copy of my drivers license at the gate. Wow. In 1980 everyone came and went freely - but I understood completely. Both my parents graduated from the German program at DLI and we all enjoyed Germany very much. I attended the two year program at University of Maryland in Munich before heading back stateside. My roommate from back then now lives in El Paso, Texas. We're still best friends. Fun times! Thank you all for your service to our Great Nation! <3

I took it a couple years ago and did relatively well, but I would also recommend a study guide. I admit, it won’t help you answer the questions, but it will make you more comfortable and not panic as much for when you see the strange questions it ask.

I graduated Chinese in 1975, came back as an MLI in 1986. I was Navy so I got up as late as I could get away with. It was hard the first half of the course, then things just seemed to click. Fond memories and had a small group of close-knit friends. All services except USAF. Zoomies stayed to themselves. Some of our teachers were total "characters" (no pun). Had one who wore a tin foil lined chrome pail on his head driving in his car. Made the news titled "Unidentified driving object".

Hi! I just finished watching all your videos. I hope youre doing well at your new duty station and doing bigger and better things. I was wondering what language you received training on. And also, if you are allowed to take leave while attending language school at DLI? I cant find that information anywhere. It would seem that one would be entitled leave but i dont see it working out with the school curriculum. Thank you in adbvance!

What if you’re getting ready to attend DLI and your wife is pregnant? Is there any way to arrange to be with your wife during delivery, or is attendance absolutely mandatory with no exceptions?
@AndrusJones
@AndrusJones 2 жыл бұрын
So that’s a conversation between you and your leadership but from what I’ve seen, missing a lot of class time generally means recycling back a class. That’s not the end of the world though, and the Army respects family a lot, you should be able to be with your wife during delivery.

@AndrusJones
@AndrusJones 2 жыл бұрын
From what I’ve seen, if the linguist is trying, then the Army would try and recycle them to an earlier class, then they’d try a new language, and lastly they’d try a different MOS. If they didn’t show much effort, then the leadership would consider a new MOS or separation. For a new MOS they had to pick from whatever was available at the time. I saw Airmen get recycled or get a new job as well. I didn’t see a single Marine recycle.
