Your videos are so informative! I ship out for basic at FLW in a week as a 35P and you are pretty much the only channel I can find that talks about being a 35P and DLI. I have a couple questions; 1) how long is AIT at goodfellow? Is there a set time or is it dependent on your language? 2) how did it work going from DLI to goodfellow with your family? Did your wife stay in Monterey or go home to family until you finish ait?
@AndrusJones4 жыл бұрын
AIT at Goodfellow will depend on your language. It goes from 6 weeks to 16 weeks depending on your language. Unfortunately, AIT at Goodfellow is too short for the family to come and everyone to live together, so she stayed behind and I came here to AIT. Luckily time flies by pretty quick!

Im a prior service. It says the bonus to reclass to 35P is 72k for 6 yrs contract. Is it true? How do they give it after grad to AIT? Is it lumpsum ? and how much is the cash one and the percent they will deduct on bonuses?
@AndrusJones2 жыл бұрын
I was told for the prior enlisted it would be a lump sum upon arrival at duty station. For first contract it was half and then they split the remainder.

How realistic is it (in your opinion) to enlist as a 35P, and while at DLI (and hopefully performing well) asking the PSG about a possible Airborne Slot? (Bonus add on: After the aforementioned - Would telling the OPS NCO that you want to go to Group/be in SOT-A have any chance of leading there?) Thanks in advance, man!
@AndrusJones3 жыл бұрын
I saw other soldiers get airborne while at DLI. I’ve heard NCOs at DLI say that it’s way easier while under TRADOC to get sent to airborne or to send a packet for things like Ranger, Special Forces, etc than while you’re at a duty station.

@andrus Jones Im coming from DLI how are the incoming 35P’s treating by cadre/DS?
@AndrusJones3 жыл бұрын
It’s definitely a step down from DLI, but nothing like basic for 35Ps. While I was there it felt like they felt obligated to enforce the rules but they really didn’t treat us like trainees unless we did something dumb.

I’m a 68W right now and thinking about reenlisting for either a 35M or 35P, how do the prior service get treated there? Also which do you recommend between those two?
@AndrusJones3 жыл бұрын
Depends on what you want to do. If you like being out in the field than 35M is more likely to do that. If you want to work in an office 35P is more likely to do that. 35P is generally about translating incoming audio/writing, whereas 35M generally work with people directly.

hey Andrus, you are one of the few people with a 35P video. I speak Arabic and want to join as a 35P. I took the ASVAB and qualify for it. I don't want to wash out of the 35P schooling if i get assigned a different language. I want Arabic, but i know you cant pick a language it's assigned to you. Any advice?
@AndrusJones4 жыл бұрын
Hey, that’s cool that you know Arabic! I would bring that up with a recruiter, especially if there is one that is a 35 series, because they should be able to get you to take a DLAB and then add Arabic to your orders. DLI is really cool though, so you might consider learning a different language and then getting paid for both. If you fail DLI then they usually give you an “easier” language, or let you test out if you know a language, so as long as you’re putting in effort I wouldn’t worry about washing out. Hope that helps!

I see online that ait is for 52 weeks/ 1 year is it true? That’s way too long for training. I wanted to do another intelligence mos but I only qualified for this one so im stuck. Can you also Walk me through on the process of what you did after basic?
@AndrusJones4 жыл бұрын
So that number is counting time at DLI. After basic you go to DLI, which is super chill compared to AIT and basic, where you’ll spend between 35-64 weeks depending on which language and if you get recycled back. Then you go to AIT and spend between 8 weeks and 5 months depending on your language. The most you could spend without failing anything is 82 weeks, the least is 43. It is honestly the longest training cycle for an entry level MOS but it comes with FLP pay for the language and honestly Monterey is awesome, so I recommend it. It seems weird to me that they can’t switch you to a different 35 series, 35P requires a DLAB so it is in theory harder to get than the other ones.

@AndrusJones4 жыл бұрын
For the Army you spend a few weeks in phase 4, another 30 days in phase 5, and then you get to 5+. It shouldn’t take more than 2 months to get tot the top phase. The other branches have similar phases but I’m not sure the specifics.
