More phone calls come from better Local SEO rankings for my clients. For example, if this client was an HVAC company, then getting them found on page 1 of Google for HVAC or HVAC Service in their desired location would help increase their impressions, which leads to more phone calls since they are in front of more people. The call button is already part of Google My Business, but getting the business in front of more users is where Local SEO comes into play - Greg

If you look into Bing Webmaster Tools, do you see any impression data for queries / pages? If so, then your site is visible in Bing. Another thing to note is how old the website is. If the website is a month or so old, then it can be indexed but not ranking for anything. I highly recommend having a website if you want to rank. I've seen companies use a facebook page as their link and the rankings are not as strong. Plus, if you only had a Facebook page, you will miss out on traditional organic ranking opportunities - Greg

I would stay as local as you can when it comes to Bing Places for Business. Your website can make it clear that you can ship anywhere nationally in the UK. One tip I have is that you should use Microsoft Bing Ads Ad Preview Tool to see if your BPB map listing shows up for your services around your location. For example, if you provide countertops as a business, then you should see what towns / cities will keep showing your map listing for that service. If they don't show it on page 1, consider adding that as a service area on Bing. -Greg

My recommendation is to always get an office location so you can display it for users and search engines. It will lead to more credibility + give more NAP signals for local SEO. By getting an office location in your desired location, you can build a radius around your location since Google knows where you are. If you can't get an office location, then you can list off service areas that you service. You can also update your description, get listed on directories, and more to improve your rankings, but getting the address is always my recommendation for any service area business owner

@@thestartupworld828 No, you really should get an actual business address. If Google asks you to verify your location, you will need to do a video walkthrough that shows your sign and everything. If you don't want to get an actual business address, then you should stick with your current service area business and add different service areas that you do business at. However, if you notice that your rankings are not as strong as you would like after doing a few optimizations, you may want to get a business address in the desired city (or town next to it) to help build the map more in your favor - Greg

You can definitely rank for multiple primary and secondary keywords on Google Maps. Here are some quick suggestions. 1) Have a dedicated landing page for each service on your website and link to it from your products 2) Add them as services 3) Create updates in the update section around those keywords 4) Building online entities on local directory sites + chamber of commerce listings that specifically mention you do those things

Thanks, I appreciate the kind words! Regarding entities online, you can show an address if you want. Business directories tend to be very loose regarding showing an address or not. With Google, they want a physical sign outside a location for an address location to be shown in 2024, which a lot of contractors don't have since they are a "service" type of business and travel everywhere. My recommendation is to get an office (if possible) in the city you want to do business in b/c showing your address is a "trusted" signal and will help you rank higher b/c Google can display the directions button to your location. Along with that, your distance from a searcher is a ranking factor, and the address you display plays into that more than being a generic service area business. -Greg

Hey, great question. I'm happy you are following my work! For my kitchen contractor, it comes down to where the money is / where they want to travel vs. expanding the map to reach more people. For instance, in the Saratoga area, north of the city, it becomes much more rural, which means my client would need to drive further to do a job that might be their only job for that day due to the distance. In Saratoga, for example, the population for that alone is close to 30k, and it continues to grow yearly. The average home value is higher than most towns and cities nearby, and someone who specializes in kitchen projects only needs several high-paying projects for the year since these are extensive projects and take several weeks. Here is a link to the data of Saratoga to show the value of it. datausa.io/profile/geo/saratoga-springs-ny/ If my client were doing small projects, like TV mounting, a 10-mile radius would not work. It is too small, and the pay for these projects does not compare to a kitchen project. In summary, it comes down to what the client offers, their price, and where they want to service. As long as they are happy with the number of leads/phone calls they get for their services, that is all I'm working towards.

It comes down to what the client offers. For example, some contractors focus on big projects but can also tack on a smaller project as one complete project for a client (like putting up lights, etc.). In that case, the website listing their services works well for this. Maybe I can help improve the traditional blue organic link rankings for those secondary jobs, but I know that is not what they are focusing on due to the opportunity that their primary category offers them, However, regarding Google My Business, I focus on winning for their primary service/s in their desired radius via Google Maps. If I felt that we had close to a 100% SoLV for that target, then I would either add more dots to the map (go from 9x9 to 11x11) or ask my client if expanding the radius by 5 miles from their location would be worth it to go after that same keyword. If they continued to have a high SoLV after expanding by five more miles, I would extend it further if we felt there was an opportunity to move rankings into the top 3 in areas a bit further than my client would want to drive. Again, it all comes down to what the client wants. If they only want to work within a 10-mile radius b/c that allows them to bounce between projects with their team members during the week, then that is all I will focus on. If they want me to expand the map to see what else we could get, I will expand the radius in Local Falcon. -Greg

I think the best way to do this is a "pay as you go" type of program. When I've done coaching for others, I use the hour to answer any questions they have/share my screen, etc. After that, I recommend that they read a book that I always recommend or come back at another time if they have any new questions. So, instead of saying a 3-month mentorship program, you can consider it a "pay as you go" program where I can be a resource for you when needed. Let me know what you think about that. -Greg

Also note that I've been learning SEO for a solid week now and I have the basics down. It's just a matter of putting those things into practice. if you can show your location, I highly recommend that over the service area option. As long as you have a sign that shows the name of your business at your location, you should use that to your advantage. Then you can build a radius around your business address using Local Falcon and the strategy that I outlined in the video. From my experience, service area businesses are more of your contractor / lawn care business that operates from a home and does not have a physical location to visit. Therefore, you at the derma clinic, would benefit from displaying your address

I have one client that prefers to make all of the GMB changes themselves since they use Yext. I still have access to their account, but they are a chain and need everything to be approved by the marketing team before it goes out on their GMB account. Where I come in is by having weekly Local Falcon reports running to measure their success after we make changes. If I notice we are losing ranks / or having a hard time improving the rankings for non-brand keywords, I send over a list of steps for them to take, which they do. So, all in all, you don't have to take over their GMB profile, but they (client) will need to make the changes you suggest to see success.

Hey great question! I've seen this a lot. If you feel this is impacting your business, you can call them yourself outside of normal business hours to see if they pickup. If it goes to an answering machine that says "call us during normal business hours" then you can let Google know that. However, if you were a client of mine, I would recommend focusing on our own SEO and not worrying about what a competitor is doing via 24/7. Sure, it is super annoying. There are other SEO companies in my area that list off 24/7, so I completely understand the frustration.

@Tmblast I'm number 2 instead of 1 . I often update and have a website with seo. I have 143 reviews. He doesn't update often . Doesn't have a website just facebook page. And he has 80 google reviews. He has the keyword service in his name, i do not. He is 24 hours I am not . But he really is not 24 hours so I know that one thing is giving him a leg up.
