Hi there! New to your channel and love what you did! I am going to try selling at fairs. How do I price my work! I have very large clear ones I glitter and medium size flat bulbs: I will be doing alcohol ones next. I have read other channels and one person does ocean colors with thick looking acrylic pour and sells for 5.00. She is the only one that actually answered about pricing that I saw. I would really appreciate your input or fellow artists thoughts! i love how you made it so easier with the solo cup and how beautiful they turned out. Thanks so much for sharing😊🥰

Hi @dianakennedy6189 pricing varies. To date, I only paint ornaments with alcohol inks. When I sold them on my website, I sold plastic ones (as I didn't want to ship glass in the mail). More recently I paint glass ornaments that are sold in retail stores. The price is up to the retailer, but they average about $16 - $17/each. I hope this helps.

@@Pro123-s7h are you referring to silk that you painted with alcohol inks? If so, after you paint it and it dries, it needs to be soaked in cold water, vinegar & salt. See this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bqWQZGWnYrucfKs After that, if you wear the scarf and later want to wash it, only gentle hand washing in cold water with little (if any) mild soap is recommended.

Hi Again Debra, I have another question for you…I followed your directions in this video and noticed on the second round f soaking I still had the ink bleed into the water, so I am wondering if that is normal on the second round? I know you mentioned it in your video o; the first round, but wasn’t sure if the second round was ok for that as well. If it is, do I need to advise a buyer that the colors will bleed with every wash? If it is not supposed to bleed the second time around, can you perhaps suggest what might have gone wrong and how it might be corrected? Thank you, I have only worked with alcohol inks for 3 days, so not sure about any of the processes, but do know that I’m having fun trying it out!
@DebraAJason
@DebraAJason Жыл бұрын
Hi Judy, it often depends on how much ink you used and the ink color. For instance, I find that sometimes when I use a bright pink or red, it tends to "bleed" both times that I soak it. When customers buy the scarf I tell them to only hand wash in cold water using a little (if any) mild soap. For the 3 years that I've been painting silk scarves w/alcohol inks, I haven't had any customers contact me with issues about the colors bleeding. I hope this helps.🥰

Beautiful work! I don’t know if you know but we can keep inks inside the lines by drawing a line with a Posca pencil. That cow can be inked without any bleed if you draw the outline, eyes, spots with a white Posca pencil👌 I’ve been watching another ink artist do this so I ordered a couple of the pencils from Cheap Joes & it’s a game changer. No need for resists unless it’s a technique that requires it. Zimino Arts here on KZbin.. she has a lot of great videos. ~~Ohhh I love your scarves too 🌹🌹🌹

Thanks Debra. Yes, I am aware of the Posca pencils that some use instead of masking fluid. This cow can also be done on Nara paper without any masking fluid (paint the background and then wipe the outline back to white). I have been playing with masking fluid lately and decided I wanted to give it a try when painting "Dudley." Thanks, I appreciate your input. 🐄
