So sorry about your leg pain, so not good for a gardener! Thank you for the lovely tour, still quite a few roses putting on a show. The anemones are wonderful companion plants.

IMO, the Austin roses are not as fragrant in hot dry climates. My Mustead Wood and Gertrude Jekyll are mildly fragrant at best. My Double Delight and Tropicana hybrid teas are so much stronger than my Austins. I think it is our high desert conditions.

21:36 Hmmm, interesting, if the dahlia is not named Peppermint Stick, then it needs to be! 22:00 The weed looked like a dandelion. My entire life, springtime, we gather dandelion greens before they become tough and bloom, we boil them tender then add a bit of vinegar and butter and eat them, They have 2X the amount of vitamin A that carrots have. 22:30 The pink coordinates well with the red throats! 24:50 😆😆😆 No mercy! LOL! I thin that it was Vita Sackville West who said that if a plant does not marry well with those surrounding it, then hoick it! LOL! No mercy in English gardens! Nor mine. For example, we fuss over, and treat our cabbages like royalty, then in prime of life we lop off their heads and eat them! I have come to think of cabbages as the Marie Anntoinenettes of the garden! LOL! 25:50 Oh how tragic, I always allow my lupines to self sow, especially if they are NOT blue, blue seems to be the dominant color in lupines and i am heartily weary of blue lupines, they are biennials, growing the first year, then blooming the next. A month ago I sowed red, white and salmon lupine seeds, the ideal lupine patch looks like tiny colored Easter eggs in great abundance, not that morose blue, away with the blue! The blue gives me the blues! LOL! Lupines have an intrigueing scent, it is like 70% fresh ground black pepper, 25% floral mixed with 5% stal sweat. I love their fragrance, inhale it long and deeply. No English cottage garden is complete without lupines. 27:18 The roses with lax canes, especially, are the ones that I want to elevate in huge pots to get them up to eye level. 29:09 Oh, yes, a wall covered with wisteria, festooned with swags of wisteria bloom is a ravishing sight to see, alas, here in Ohio, the vines will survive our winters, but the flower buds freeze before they even develop, Ohio is 70% vile weather, bu northern plains states are much worse. 29:05 You shall, of course, need a stout drill, with a masonry bit to drill into the mortar to install your fasteners. Difficult but doable. 30:32 , yes, the orange sherbet ice cream color that I love. 31:32 Your neighbor's dog is calling out "Ava! Where are you! I am lonesome for you!". 33:30 I hope that this winter you get Christmas lights on you Irish yews, that would be a pleasant scene, cheerful lights, shining on the cold snow, in the bleak winter. Best of wishes for your leg, hopefully it is not clogged veins from covid jab . Perhaps digestive enzymes can help dissolve blockages. There! 3 nights, I have now seen your entire video, thank you for the show and tell!

11:56 They sway beautifully in the breeze.🤍🤍🤍 12:53 Only one rebel that I can think of that is a bad neighbor, intolerably so, is morning glories, they absolutely suffocate and destroy any plants under their dominion. 14:14 Possibly there are more abundant nectar sources nearby and that is why the bees are slighting your liatris. Although here in Ohio, August is a very lean month for flowers for bees. I have kept bees for 40+ years. 14:35 For self sowing, best to leave the dry seed stalks of delphiniums and digitalis in place, or hack them down and leave them lay. You know this, but if your reader read this, it may help to manage things well. 15:40 The Scepter d'Isle has the lovely, vintage, Victorian cabbage rose form that I adore. I do try to not have too many pink roses though since the finest roses are far more abundant in pink than any other color, it is easy to end up with too many pink roses. 16:18 Luscious color, I could almost eat it it looks so identical to orange sherbet. 17:39 My neighbor brought me a large mass of red gladiolus fine, big bulbs today, I am visualizing a hummingbird party on them next years summer. 19:07 Your Irish yews are quite well restrained in width. I hope that this winter you can string some Christmas lights around them, Christmas lights glowing hrough a thin layer of snow would be one of the few beautiful sights during deep and dark December. 20:54 I too have 6 year old, large plum trees, one had a few blooms for the first time ever, frost destroyed them, and the one that bloomed was supposed to be an apricot tree, not a plum, so, hopefully next summer I can learn what manner of plum that it i. Well, minight 15 minutes away, I shall finish this tomorrow night. Good night Darren and Ava!

Darren, you have heaps of room for deeper and larger rectangular pots for your Tom's. Veges are kind of a priority when food is so oversprayed and has exorbitant prices. Companion planting might be beneficial if you have a smaller garden. Jo.😊

1:57 I can 8 quarts of tomatoes every day from my garden, I have canned 50 quarts to far, 30+ more to go. 2:49 Your previous video gave me the idea to plant 3 types of dianthus seeds for bloom next year, the Sweet Williams are growing like weeds, the fringed sorts are slower growing. 4:05 What you call indian bean tree, here in the states we call it catalpa, it will grow very large in 30 years time, it's wood is absolutely decay resisitant, Catalpa fence posts here at home that I put in 45 years ago are still quite solid and intact, additionally, it has the unique quality of having nectar secreting glands under the leaves, inside of the point angle where the main veins converge. Quite a fascinating tree, but not suited for a small property. 5:07 Your garden is looking quite lush and lovely, my roses are just now recovering from stifling July heat of 90+ degrees for 2+ weeks, I felt like Aquarius, the water bearer, never go to the garden without a bucket full of water with very dilute fertilizer in it. 6:00 Alas! The slugs were feasting on my dahlias while I was distracted with canning yellow wax beans, cutting off sweetcorn to put into the deep freeze and canning tomatoes. My dahlia plants have recovered, but nowhere near the quality of show of previous years. 7:07 Alas, yes, my Francois Rabellait totally defoliated from blackspot, but is making a good recovery now, loading up with blooms. 7:52 QE2 we called her, she loved rose gardens, now she has moved on to where roses never fade, paradise. 10:22 My sweet peas named Erowan and Matucana I planted in a massive pot in order to get some control of slugs shredding them. Potting them that way acheived around 90 percent elimination of slugs in them. Yes, strong, sweet, candy like scent the sweet peas have. 11:06 Those of us who garden know that weeds are relentless, I weed a little every day in my onions/Korean radishes patch and carrots, it is too daunting to resolve to weed the entire area , so I do it piecemeal in between caning tomatoes. Best wishes for recovery for your aching leg, also tell Ava sweetie that we say "Hello!". 11:39 Perhaps your legs aches from carrying water to all of the pots? I suppose that you can drag a garden hose among them without toppling them? I shall watch the remainder of your video tomorrow night, you have a long one this time. Thank you Darren for the show and tell! Ralph in Ohio.

Your garden is looking spectacular Darren. I hope your leg feels better soon. My Gabrial Oak DA rose also flops. What I have done with it is set a metal four-foot-tall garden obelisk trellis beside it for support. The obelisk is painted black, but I might paint dark green next spring, so it does not stand out. Happy gardening from Kentucky!

LOVE your garden tours. I've gone absolutely crazy about your channel. Incidentally, it is impossible to find "Scented Memories" carnations in the USA. A dreadful box store carried them earlier, but now the season is too late. Next to roses, carnation fragrances are my favorite. A discontinued fragrance from FLORIS called Malmaison is quite lovely with a hint of clove adds to the lush fragrance of carnation. Stay well and happy, you lovely fellow, and enjoy your birthday!

6:44 Yes, so far I am able to hang my clothes out to dry hanging on the 10 feet tall dead sapling tree poles that I bind 3 together, teepee style then put long dead saplings horizontal on top for my scarlet wonder beans and Kentucky Wonder (an old heirloom green bean) beens to clamber on. The poles are about 70% covered, a few openings to hang clothes to dry in my vegetable garden. I prefer retro and rustic as much as possible. I took 7 quarts of yellow colored green beans out of the pressure canner just before I went online to admire your garden. It took ALL DAY LONG to can those 7 quarts of beans. They are low bush beans and the dirt and dead leaves stick to them as if they were velcro, a dozen washings until they be clean, pole beans are high enough that they remain clean, much quicker to can. 7:36 3 days ago, I sanded lupine seeds that I bought via Ebay, white, orange and red, I soaked them and drained them leaving them in glass jars overnight, in 24 hours they were sprouting! Never have I had in my 50+ years of gardening had seeds sprout in less than 24 hours. They are now in my 50 by 150 feet vegetable garden which gets a ton of manure every springtime and horticultural lime all plowed under, there, the lupines can grow their deep taproots better than in pots. Your readers may be interested to know that lupines grow the first year and bloom the following year. No proper English cottage garden is complete without lupines, lots of them in every color. Their scent is rather curious, it is definitely fresh ground black pepper, compounded with floral scent plus about 5% stale sweat odor. Perhaps I should have been a perfumer working in Grasse France? I seem to notice odors that others are oblivious to. 7:58 Wow! The Gabriel Oak is nearly fluorescent under the bright overcast skies (the very best light for photos/video. 8:26 Yes, I love asiatic lilies colors, but I don't grow them because they have no scent, I grow enormously tall Orientals for their strong, pervasive, exotic, clove/cinnamon/camphor scent. Like you, I want a cloud of fragrance hovering over my flower garden. It's like a bit of heaven come down to earth. 11:09 The Irish yews are looking good, they shall look good wintertime dusted with snow and red cardinal birds perched in them. 12:49 Yes, the fragrance of my Eustacia Vye is strong and intoxicatingly fragrant. Eustacia has kept her leaves all summer while my Francois Rabelliait dropped all of it's leaves from blackspot, he is now beginning to put out new growth. 15:33 Proper Job is nicely quartered also. This year the slugs were frequent diners munching on my dahlias, they grow strongly enough that I did not take my snips to the slugs as I do for my sweet peas, I go about at midnight with a flash light snipping slugs in two that are on sensetive plants that will succumb to their predations. 18:00 Here in Ohio, the heat is so oppressive that all fragrance evaporates away from the less than strongly scented roses and, like my Souvenir de la Malmaison rose, it had a gorgeous group of new blooms yesterday and today they are withering already from heat. It is said that Napoleaon found Souvenir de la Malmaison growing on the Isle de Bourbon, and he brought it home to his Empress Josephine who never saw a rose that she didn't like and she added it to her massive rose colection, SO, thanks be to Napoleon and Josephine that we have Souvenir de la Malmaison. A curious name Malmaison because it translates to "bad house". Were naughty things happening there for it to acquire such a name? I have no idea. A pleasant, romantic thought though, her Victorian era rose garden. Well thank you for the show and tell Darren, now, flee into your house with a cloud of pestilent insects in tow! LOL!
