As much as I love the other trains, the title said the "Garrat returns" so I was expecting to see more of it.

Looking at this, the Welsh Highlands, and the Strasburg (in the US), it never ceases to amaze me. These lines have heavier rails, and longer trains in preservation than they ever did before preservation. That really makes me happy, knowing that they are thriving like this.

@scottcannell55842 ай бұрын
The DH class locos were QR switching locos There were around 80 built by walkers limited in Maryborough Queensland. They have all been sold off or donated to tourist railway's. They were originally 3ft 6 gauge or narrow gauge loco powered by a caterpillar diesel engine. I believe most were sold off to sugar cane mills and they were converted to 2ft gauge. There are still plenty of original examples to see.

The double line with the VLocity and Sprinter railcars (V/Line) is broad gauge - 1600 mm. This line once went as single track railways to Albury in NSW with the secondary line to Shepparton in Victoria and Tocumwal in NSW, but since about 2011 the broad gauge line parallel to the standard gauge line from Seymour to Wodonga (Albury-Wodonga is called the 'Twin City') has been standardised. Google is your friend to look up these locations. The tracks to the left are the Sydney to Melbourne main line - standard gauge in Victoria since 1962 - 1435mm, the same as England. There is also originally a broad gauge branch from Benalla to Yarrawonga (Vic) and Oaklands (NSW that was also standardised. When it had passenger services, it was a single 'unit' as you would call it, typically a DERM (diesel electric rail motor) dating from the late 1920s. A lovely rail motor! The line off the Tocumwal one from Toolamba to Echuca was reopened in 2013 but has again been unused since about 2018 IIRC. Hope all this helps.
