Puffing Billy Cup Weekend 23 Behind the scenes

First time out with a new Camcorder. I am going black and white. (as I am a B&W Photographer) Hope you don't hate it. Zooming is not my strength. I will work on that. Thanks for watching.

I have been involved in photographing trains and Puffing Billy in particular for many years. I thought your photography in this particular video was very interesting. I know the Gembrook line very well and I was challenged by some of the locations you picked to shoot from. I like your photography as it is not typical of rail fan photography with the tight shots many of which reminded me of old photos taken of Puffing Billy in the early days. Good work - different.

B&W is great, but you're not wrong about your zooming, even just don't use it at all (especially if you're using something not manually controlled by operating the lens directly) or just zoom in post if you really must, best just keep it fixed, let train approach and pan as it passes. I don't shoot a lot of trains (or much of anything these days) but i certainly have and was taught by my father (who worked in film & tv his whole life) who was involved in shooting, editing and directing many (professional) railfan videos in the 80's & 90's, all shot on glorious film. Liked and subbed.

You are spot on. If the zoom had a handle on a ring id be fine. When i use my R5 and a zoom lenz its much better. Also im taking photos and the video is a fill in. I will def make more effort moving forward. Originally my vids on here are just for me and my mate to share. Thanks for the feedback. Im jealous of your dads film work. I would go back to those days if I could.

Well. I started my train portfolio on black and white film. My photos are all black and white. I see colour videos everywhere so i am trying to make my videos match my photography. Only puffing billy will be BW here. Hope you dont hate it🙂
