I AM WITH YOU. Her books are trash ... I TRIED I really did, but I didn't like any of her primary characters. Her storylines were barely there, or they were prefab (redone) and/or cringe AF. There is NO character development; the relationships are TOXIC, and she has hardly any real world building. I almost want to say it was like horrible fan fiction but I think I've read more fanfiction that was better than her books than her books could ever be.

"Omg I love when people hate this book", why do you care? LOL I see all of the haters and I'm like ya'll are out here just hating a book series that you did not have to continue reading. The only hate and slander I will accept is for people Romanticizing Colleen Hoover or Haunting Adelaide.

I just think that if people are allowed to talk about how much they love a book then it’s only fair for people to also talk about how much they hate it. You can bond over books without having to love them. I do agree with your coho and hA comment also btw

I just finished reading it (I know I'm so late on the whole acotar hype, but I refused to read it for years, after people described it as spicy fantasy 😂 🤢...because girl is a traditional fantasy lover lol)....I actually got over the "spicy" parts and stopped cringing after a while, but I had to come onto the Internet and see if I'm the only one who's bothered with how Tamlin and Rhysand are being portrayed. I'm a military wife and the whole PTSD thing hits home quite a bit, and I feel the author has totally ignored Tam's suffering and his sacrifices. I understand the idea of two broken people not being able to fix each other, but I felt like the book really did him dirty. The way Tam handled the whole PTSD thing was obviously catastrophic, but once again, anyone who knows someone who struggled with these demons in real life will know that communication for those who suffer is not that easy. I actually don't have a huge issue with Rhy. Just another character that is trauma riddled. I just don't like how Tam is being portrayed, just in order to make Rhy look better or to make excuses for his odd behaviour....

Enjoyed the review! My Girlfriend recommended me the book and I enjoy a good fantasy romance type book from time to time so I figured I would read it and its a good thing I listened to a audio version of it because I probably wouldnt have finished it otherwise lol I thought the writing was just poor and the majority of things just didnt make sense.

Im sorta relieved Im not the only one. I want to preface that it is amazing that authors of every literary background can publish and make a living off it and even more fantastic they have the fanbase for it. But this book isnt a literary work of art as many others and advertisements make it out to be. Not say every book we read had to be this genuis work, but the hype for this book and under fantasy genre, people were giving me the impression this was up there with Tolkien and Martin. I really tried to like it but when I realized it wasnt going to get better I felt scammed hahaha. But in all good intention I'm glad its pulling people to read!
@LoveSam-

Very true! It pains me that, due to its popularity, this will be remembered alongside Tolkien, where as other more deserving titles such as Samantha Shannon’s Priory of the orange tree, which are miles better (in terms of being a complex and well crafted fantasy novels).

@@LoveSam- I agree with this wholeheartedly. I preferred the nameless one wyrm a million times over that literal worm in acotar 🤣 I also have to say something that really struck me was the lack of emotional development for Feyre. I eventually did read about 10 chapters of the next book mist and fury when I was trying so hard to like it. The way the author chose to show how guilty Feyre felt about all the deaths a WHOLE book after is bizarre. It was still scarce but imo mentioned more in the second book than when she was forced to face them. It's like she was attempting to show Feyre's ability to reflect but it failed miserably especially when she spent more time with the steamy bits and the descriptions of the city.

Thank you for your video, good to see I`m not the only one. I just don`t get the hype with this book, I`ve never read a SJM book before. Picked it up after hearing about it so much on social media, and it was meant to be soooo good. Upon starting reading it, i felt the writing is bad. Straight away i felt Cinderella vibes with the presentation of MC. As MC commits a crime she get sent of to "get the punishment", the "Beauty and the Beast" vibes came in strong. I even thought at some point; "when is he gonna introduce her to the library?" and lo and behold, just a few pages later that happens. Nothing is original in this book, it`s done before. There is also so many "why`s". A never ending list of why. Like the why`s of Twilight; why does a 100 year old vampire falls in love with a teenager, why would a 500 year old fay fall in love with a teenage girl? All characters are so boring and colorless, most of all the MC. She honestly has nothing special to her. She uses a weapon that basically is fay kryptonite and nothing else. Throughout the book it`s difficult to see if MC has anything to her at all. I honestly struggle to see why the characters are attracted to one another. There is no attraction. So when MC goes to save "the man she loves", I just keep wondering when that happened and what pages I obviously didn`t read. I often find that SJM avoids going into detail, like when she write about MC blackout when she drinks. And that this continues at the very end of the book. In my opinion, this is very lazy writing and you are suppose to just accept that "things happened, okay?". Well, this is hours of my life I won`t get back.

Wow thank you for taking the time to write all this! And I totally agree, the love felt so forced, one minute he’s threatening death and the next he’s madly in love?? And that’s just Tamlin. Not that Rhysand differs much from that description.
