I really want to complete all scenes whitout items but fitfull nightmare is a thing, everytime I look at that spell my will to try it gets crushed, you NEED to use the doll as a sub because if you let Remi do the second spin it will mostly be impossible to do the full circle since Remi gets close to the wall, so I can't use the orb to get smaller hitboxes

God I fucking wish... It's one of the options on the fangame poll I put up and let everyone decide on what I play (and I've got a similar poll on my Patreon where the votes on that one get permanently saved and carried over). Though this is one of those cases where I'll be playing Demon World of Magic first, and then Death Angel's Dream. Despite the former being a MS remake and the latter a HRtP remake, DWoM is his first game, and DAD is a sequel to its story (supposedly. I haven't translated it yet, but that seems to be the case). But... it hasn't gotten many votes on the poll. So I'm not sure when I'll actually play it on the channel. This is the poll if you're curious. Anyone who recognizes "Trauma Awakening" understands The original spell that was based on was so horrible Emphasized by the fact that most of the rest of that game is actually borderline boring for how easy it is And then it hits you with THAT About this game, I love these patterns so much It's really nice to see patterns that are actually inspirations, instead of the typical recollection I don't know what most of these spells are based on though, particularly Mugenri Roulette

Spell Card Phantasm is what happens when I make a spell with someone else's system I'm entirely unfamiliar with. It was also one of the first spells I ever made. My ideas are evil and I think its funny to watch people bash their head into the wall 800 times, but I will admit that some of the changes that Isy made to that one after I handed it to her made it bullshit hard. Not that it wasn't bullshit hard before but both of us making a spell is a traumatic combination.

@Mugenri It would've been fine if it was just consistent It looks cool and insane already and what is expected from you is a lot But with enough practice, you could've mastered it But that idea is thrown out the window when Yukari's movement is completely random, meaning the way you handle the spell is completely random each time Sorry, I like the spell conceptually, but too much BS was stacked at once (Mainly just the random Yukari movement part, but really, who doesn't hate RNG in spells?)

The random movement is something I removed from the mismem version cause RNG on a spell like that is a nightmare and a lot of people complained about it. It was a VERY DELIBERATE choice in SDF though because I was trying to be evil.

I think going for No Bomb on this fight took away my sanity... Nothing like losing 3 lives to the final spell because of how damn hard it is! Anyway references time: -Nonspell 6 looks just like Chimata's nons, but with actual randomness via boss movement. -Nonspell 7, as alluded to, is a reference to Yumeko. -Oh boy here we go... Senri Technique “Trauma Awakening” is a reference to ”Spell Card Phantasm”, a spell from Spellbroken Dream Festival. It's notable for being the only spell in that game that the main dev did not program, and it was made by Mugenri instead not long before release as a replacement for another spell that playtesters didn't like. It's also notable for having been such a balls to the walls-hard spell to the point where it was taking hundreds of attempts for some people (myself included at first) that it got nerfed beyond recognition and is super easy now... This version of the spell has a difficulty level somewhere in between those two versions. -Burst Fire Card “Imperial Airstrike” is a reference to GOD FUCKING DAMNIT WHY THIS LITTLE PIECE OF SH- ...anyway, it's a reference to the opener pattern from Icarus, the seventh and final boss from Seihou Banshiryuu's Extra Stage (which is a boss rush). It's notable for having been basically one of the hardest patterns in the entire stage, until my friend Innocence found a timeout strat that makes it marginally easier. Without that? Nothing like losing 2 lives to it out of the maximum of 6 on my ExNB run! Thank god this version is basically free... (and I STILL died to it in my successful NB run of this because of an accidental extra tap...) -Do I really gotta explain Blank Card “Unreal Being”? No. No I really don't. Also the last phase of Probability Card “Mugenri Roulette” is devious. There's actually a tell for what will be shot, but it's very hidden, and the execution is a bit precise.

Lemme fill in the rest of those for ya~ -Nonspell 4 is a reference to Subterranean Rose from Touhou 11 Extra. -Arrow Card "Phoenix Arrow -Realize-" is a reference to the Dark PHOENiX album Arrow Realize which is one of my favorite albums from them. -Nonspell 12 is Tsubakura's "Monochrome Storm" from Evanescent Existence. -The second phase of the final spell is a reference to Devil's Recitation from Touhou 5/12 -The final phase of the final spell is Monochrome Bivalence because BlueKirby wanted to see Monochrome Bivalence

You need to understand, as someone who went for No Bomb of Banshiryuu's Extra Stage, _merely seeing Tsurubami jumping that exact way brought back trauma_ and then the spell proceeded to be free oh ok

If it makes you feel any better, yeah like Iris said, that bit's 100% on me splicing together footage. You'll notice a similar skip happens soon as the post-fight dialogue starts as well. This winning run was actually a final _practice_ run I was doing before bed (I had finally gotten the Suzumi spell _mostly_ consistent in spell practice and wanted to take a stab at a full run). Wasn't expecting to actually _win_, but quickly booted up OBS to get the post fight dialogue. That's why the actual gameplay has the button recorder in the bottom left, cause I had to save a replay to get he footage. But since replays don't have the pre and post fight dialogue, I had to splice that footage together.

25:26 part of the discrepancy with the fight difficulties is that this is my first game ever and I was still learning while making it. It's likely yabusame's fight would have been significantly harder if I were more experienced with danmakufu when I made it.

Lost all my lifes and barriers on Tsurubami, haiji upgrade that gives you barriers for capturing spellcards saved me on suzumi since the only spellcard that actually gives me trouble is the survival

It's been bothering me for a long time at this point, but I think I can get why I feel annoyed at this game's story. Probably a very controversial opinion, but Zanmu is a lazily written character. Everything that transpired beforehand being something that Zanmu had planned all along felt like a deus ex machina, no matter how weird or offhand it is, even the relationships that happened afterwards. ZUN only has to state that "it's inevitable" or "everyone is dancing on the palm of my hand" to explain why so-and-so happens, and we're left to just accept it as such, like we're also dancing in the palms of her hands as the spectator to the story. Got that out of my system at least. I suppose Zanmu is an interesting way to expand on the delicate power balance in Gensokyo, there's that

Suika is in an unfortunate position of being good at story mode but absolutely terrible at pvp. In story mode, Suika is really good because of her damage from her level 1s and 2s, easily decimating bosses as demonstrated in the video. Suika can also easily kill Zanmu because the AI is dumb and is utterly incapable of dodging Suika's spell. This plus her level 3 makes her Zanmu fairly tame, even after the buffs to Zanmu. Unfortunately for Suika, in pvp, she is utterly terrible because her spell has so little HP, even moreso in the newer version. Her EX attack also isn't really that threatening. You could control the mini Suikas with your movement to ram your opponent, but it isn't really that effective. Up next is the finale of this almost year-long series, and the character whose story is free until the difficulty ramps up significantly in stage 6 thanks to a certain shrine maiden

In todays tale we see suika kick the asses of the incident solvers for frankly loitering and shaking them all down without warning, especially marisa, also the first appearance of my favorite part of the staff roll theme that never appears because most endings dont have much to talk about Also funnily enough suika’s scenario is the only one where every character has their own unique theme play instead of them being overridden by the stock story themes, which really makes you wonder why zun did that or why he made them stock story themes in the first place scratch that reimu has suikas theme play instead

Suika got nerfed in the update. lmao Her spell's HP went down from 500 to 400, though I suspect it's to compensate for the spell now almost immediately entering mist form when it starts. Unfortunately this completely fails to address its key weakness, which makes her even easier to fight in Story Mode and even weaker in PvP... All you really need to do to beat the CPU with Suika is to spam Boss Attacks at them. The CPU is incapable of reading bullets outside of a small radius around themselves, which means that Suika's bullet clumps on her nonspell and Suika herself on her spell can easily wall and kill the CPU. This is a very easy and very consistent way to kill Zanmu before reaching her final spell. Suika's nonspell being changed between versions was due to a "spawn at set distance" function not working in v1.00a, resulting in a few patterns spawning at the boss's origin instead of where they were actually intended to be. Oops.
