You know, in LoLK Seiran was both "on the clock" and a stage 1 boss with about 20 lines of dialogue across all scenarios, but in this game she comes across as... surprisingly likeable? Seriously this was like the first scenario so far where the player character is all 3 of confident without being a jerk, not completely incompetent, and not insane.

Nobody has mastered the anti-climax like ZUN has. Tiny Moon rabbit goes to Hell and meets an animal matriarch and then....beats her and is lead out of Hell by her off screen (deal's a deal!) and doesn't even think about it after leaving. Super special purifying Lunar technology....that's just a dumb air purifier because the Lunarians think earth is stinky. He's great, keeps just the right amount of levity going in this series.

And also look at how normal she is, and how normal her life is, and also shes really stupid.” ZUN somehow constantly is also able to lower or raise the iq level of anyone in stories for the sake of humor and somehow it doesnt get boring or aggravating

@@rsg5314well, part of touhou humor is the clash of serious and idiocracy, i;e: most incidents are pretty dramatic(list commences) eosd: scarlet clouds blot out the sun across gensokyo pcb: gensokyo freezes in an eternal winter without spring iamp: everyone is being led to feast constantly by a mysterious force in: the altered moon would change many things reliant on the moon pofv: hundreds of thousands of people have died outside and now inhabit flowers across gensokyo mof: rivals could possibly uplift gensokyo society as a whole swr: weather is going insane across gensokyo sa: okuu could have blown literally everything up ufo: eh Touhou Hisoutensoku 12.3: Chase the Enigma of the Gargantuan Guignol!: funni catfish, big robot man, and doll hijinks td: desire spirits spread out all across gensokyo to revive a legendary figure hm: everyone in the human village is in pandemonium from a loss of hope, leading to clashing religions ddc: objects are coming to life and a full-blown revolution is being attempted ulil: urban legends are becoming real and mysteriously powerful balls are going around and the is barrier tearing and could lead to gensokyo poofing as a whole lolk: both lunarian society and gensokyo society could both be destroyed from the collision of an invasion aocf: urban legend still happening, more chaos with possesion hsifs: seasons are going haywire and certain youkai are being born from a secret sage god wbawc: a somewhat threatened invasion to force the helping with a societal upheaval by the cunning and not so cunning beast leaders sfw: resentful oil leaks into gensokyo and an unstoppable foe leads on too um: eh udoalg: land is rid of ownership everywhere while the beasts in secret plot to invade and claim land all while being manipulated by another secretive to claim all the spoils of the aftermath, including gensokyo Yet they are also not really treated with any respect, and the characters and their motivations involved typically arent serious either, remi just wanted to go outside or okuu just being stupid Touhou, as you said, really is legendary sounding tales being brought closer to our minds to see the players’ thoughts and emotions to reveal how *absolutely not* legendary any of it is, and the ensuing hijinks that occur when a bunch of not legendary legendary figures meet and interact in daily life, yet there is a lot of very serious and genuine moments(maybe not genuine) usually focused on the characters, further increasing the funny tonal dissonance that touhou is built off of

Seiran is a very good shot for story mode. Her damage is superb, even from her base shot, and the bosses she fight are fairly easy, although on version 1.10c, Tsukasa proves to be a much more difficult opponent than she was originally. Saki is also generally an easy final boss. Even with the buffs to her from 1.10a, she is still not bad to fight when compared to every other final boss. Her only problem spell is her final, which is still not too bad when compared to the other finals. On another note, yesterday, ZUN released a new patch of UDoALG that might as well turn it into an entirely different game. I'll be mentioning the changes of the shottypes Omega has already played so far before the update released. - Reimu was slightly nerfed in terms of her level 1 and 2 damage output, but she's still broken nontheless - Marisa's level 2 now has her fire 3 purple lasers on her side of the screen while still sending blue lasers to the opponent's screen. This obliterates bosses when positioned well. - Sanae is still the same, though her damage was buffed and her scope's range expanded. - Ran is still the same. Her route is both easier and harder with Chiyari being nerfed heavily but with Yuuma having a harder overhauled final. - Aunn is still the same besides some damage buffs. - Nazrin has a faster scope and slightly bettet damage. - Seiran's missiles are much thicker. ZUN also added knockback and made bombs last longer in this new update. The AI also seems more aggressive now. Now that those are all out of the way, next time, it's time for Orin, who was greatly overhauled between the 2 UDoALG versions, and may or may not have an easier route when compared to the original version.

Honestly, I'm glad we didn't get Reisen in this game and got to play as someone new instead... Now if only ZUN would carry that away from the fighting games and Phantasmagoria entries that require massive rosters by nature. Seriously, the last-introduced character to become playable in a main series entry other than this game is still Sanae. MoF came out in *2007*.

@@lunatic0verlord10 I didn't mean "the character most recently made playable," I meant "the most recently introduced (to the series) character who has been made playable." Which has been Sanae for the past 15 years (UFO came out in 2009), as Sanae is from MoF, while Reisen is from IN and Aya from PoFV. I like a lot of the characters from SA onwards and I wish I could play as them in a main title instead of Sakuya, Youmu, or Sanae again, but even when it's someone different it's one of the other uber-popular characters from MoF or before.

What incredible timing that the game receives a massive update the day before this video goes live... Seiran's damage is insanely high. Spamming her C1 will easily nuke most of the bosses in the game. Combine that with incredibly easy Story Mode bosses, and you have one of the easiest LNN shots in the game. In other news, the update changed a ton about the game, but most notably for Story Mode: anyone with Zanmu as their final boss is suddenly staring down a far more difficult fight due to her C2 being far more capable to sending over what we call a "frenzy" of attacks. Zanmu's final spell got nerfed, but uh... it probably got harder, if anything. Yuuma and Suika also received changes to their final spells, by the way.

To quote what I sent to Omega not long before this video went up, "damn, if you had a nickel for each time a touhou game that's currently being featured on your channel got a rebalance update, you'd have two nickels now". I'm not gonna bother listing past characters' changes, I might as well focus on the ones from this video onwards. Seiran is, both literally and figuratively, a blast to play. Also she's my favorite of the Touhou rabbits so that made me extra happy to see her in this game. If only her story weren't literally filler... Anyway, yeah, spam Lv1 and win, her Lv2 is garbage. I hear her Lv2 got "buffed", but it's still bad. I dunno, I only tested few characters so far and someone else can fill in about the changes a lot better than me. All I cared was that Zanmu LNB was finally possible for me. 4:20 Yes, she has the Sonic Adventure Knuckles radar. Totally. Also that outro was great.

Thanks to the comments, it turns out there's a new update that does a lot of changes to this game Might replay this game in the future then Anyways, Seiran Probably one of my favorite shot types in this game A total glass cannon, and you are expected to play very aggressively with her Her goal is to blast everything in sight, and she does it well (without being broken like Reimu) Orin is next, and... I guess it depends what we get next time, if it's updated or not If not, Orin's shot is terrible, but her C2 is insanely good (if literally broken with her being damaged if she uses it while too high on the screen) If yes, well I dunno what changed, so...

Also ill be perfectly honest, if tsukasa’s spell attack got fixed (there was a coding error that was supposed to make the lasers ricochet, bugged) then she might be one of the worst spell attacks becuase now you have to deal with random bullets on screen and the unpredictable lasers and the green kunai she shoots out too

At the very least it's gonna happen from Mamizou onwards. I bought it through Steam, so the update's gone through. I'm gonna have to see fully what's changed, and I'll debate on if it's worth replaying Rin & Tsukasa's route as well.

And my biggest question for debating on if I'll replay Orin or not is if her charge shot glitch got fixed. Where you'd just straight up die if you used your level 2 partway up the screen (since that would actually change my strategies and instructions)
