When you installed the rear taillight, were you able to send rivets through the outside holes without intercepting the cooler? Usually the outside holes fit over the bolts that come on the rear bumper bracket, but noticed you didn’t install that. Thanks!

Yes you can put all 4 rivets into the tail light. The holes line up with the edges of the cooler underneath so once you line it up you’re good to drill all 4 holes.

Great video bud. I have an 18 SBA 800HO and was doing a top end rebuilt. I’m familiar with engines but never done a new gen snowmobile so it was nice to watch your videos to familiarize myself with the entire engine, its component and the how-to about it. Thanks.

Hi great video. Not sure if You put the engine together by now but by any chance have you check the balance on your primary clutch? I know water would be bad but there has been many sleds submerged in lakes and they run perfectly fine afterwards. I am curious if your failure is related to clutch imbalance overtime loading the bearing and starting to spall, slight lost of centerline driving pistons wear. That is a pretty hefty bearing for just water failure as the root cause. If you check the balance and still within spec… then I buy the water been the root cause. Good luck!!!
@themediocregarage
@themediocregarage Жыл бұрын
Hey thanks for the comment! Good point. I actually did check the clutch balance and it was well within spec. I’m thinking there was just enough water in the bottom end that it washed a bearing 😐

Hello from Russia, thanks for the content! I always watch your video. I have a PRO RMK 800 163, I increased the cooling of the motor by installing a cooling radiator from BRP summit. instead of a plate in the middle of the tunnel. I apologize for the errors in the text, I use Google translator.

Hello ! great video. Can I remove the starter completely, with the big bolt and an impact, or do I have to disassemble everything as you show when you reinstall it. Do I need to remove it to open the base? I have to open the base to change the water pump shaft. Switchback Adventure 600 2012. Thank you!

What does drilling that hole do. I just did the khaos conversion and I’m wondering what drilling the hole to put in the skid does.
@themediocregarage
@themediocregarage Жыл бұрын
If you just do the khaos conversion you don’t need to drill that hole to lower the front of the skid. Drilling that hood is part of the setup when you put the Ice Age Elevate spindles on. The spindles are taller to give the front end of the chassis more clearance so you need to drop the front of the track in order to keep it properly engaged with the snow. If you just did the elevate spindles but didn’t lower the front of the track apparently you would have to much extra ski pressure.

Only changing out the a-arms just narrows up the ski stance and made it a bit easier to get on edge and side hill etc.

Great series of videos. Just about to rip in to my 2015 Switchback that has 22,000 km. Your series looks like it’ll be my go to, whether I buy a short block or decide to have the crank and cylinders done separately. I haven’t had the engine out of an Axys before so this is perfect for my needs. Thanks.

Sounds like a sweet setup you got there. Typically my sled will run about 51 - 53 degrees when the trail isn’t icy. With the cooler on there and an icy trail I was only up to 61 at the hottest and if I just kept a decent steady speed it would fluctuate around 57 - 59 while other guys sleds were up in the 80s and higher and they were having to stop and cool them off.

Good video! Bought a 2017 xcr 800 last month and unfortunately seized up on my first trip, now I know what I'm in for. Question, who should I send mine off to? Stator side is the issue, piston and head started to melt and the connecting rod seized to the crankshaft. Clutch sides power valve ears broke off too, one ended up in the exhaust, gouged up the cylinder a little. Any advice?
