The writing for this show was excellent. There was never any love lost between Klink and Burkhalter and that's what made the chemistry excellent.

John Banner was one of the best on the show. Schultz was always my favorite and still is. Banner lost his entire family in the Holocaust. So did Leon Askin.

I'm a stickler for detail so please excuse me,but the isn't major hochstetters collar markings incorrect? It appears his collar markings indicate that he's a standartenfuhrer and not a major.

the original black guy left because they did not give him a bigger role, you can see him in a twilight zone episode with groober from andy griffith show, which was a very good episode

"He's brought every tracking device but an Apache scout." That line cracks me up so much. I could just see an Apache jumping out the back of the truck. Hogans one-liners were the best.

Why are they call him "Major" Hochstetter when his collar patch ( a single silver oakleaf) indicates the the rank of an SS-Standartenführer ( a Colonel)?
@redlt194
@redlt194 6 ай бұрын
The show had inaccuracies. In an early episode he is referred to as Colonel, though as a different character.

Because the SS rank system was a bit impenetrable and the show was comedy first.

("Sgt.J."). "Would you BELIEVE... That Verner Kemperor. <--- Klink was a Very Good Violinist. 🎻 HE is Supposedly Part Jewish... Just a Little... Lol. His Family Made Out. He May Have Played with an Orchestra? But, Him playing the Bad Guy in Some of Those Early Movies was Impressive. Of Course. I, Became a Fan of Him. And, The Other Actors on "Hogan's Heroes." Some Of the German Officers ARE Jewish Folks. And, Agreed to play on the Show IF it Made The Nazis look bad. "I, Saw an interview." Where One of the Actors Daid that.✌️🕊️ To all of them. 😄

I've often wondered what the final episode would have been like, with Allied forces liberating the Stalags as the Nazis surrendered, retreated, or outright fled for safety. It piques one's imagination to consider the possibilities. If I were rich, I would hire three good writers to produce their own "final episode", independent of one another. I could then compare the stories.

That's a pretty good effect for a 60's sitcom. The split in the film isn't visible.
