Morning Mr Johnson. Inspired so much by your "Hike and Fly", this week (W/C 29th July 2024), I completed my Elementary Pilot.... I hope to be following your footsteps soon... One question I have is:- What harness do you use? Regards, Ned Needham

Thats ace, thanks very much. I use an Air Design Le Slip 2 with the optional airbag: flybubble.com/airdesign-le-slip-2 Happy flying and all the best, Rob.

So how late into spring do these snow couloirs hold there snow ? Like the ones in Glencoe as well. Here in Colorado the snow consolidates and it’s safe to climb in June into early July. Absolutely love your videos. Educational and fun.

It depends how aged the winter is really and varies massively from year to year. I have skied grade one gullies in May but that is unusual.

Very nicely done Rob 👏You did well getting some peace and quiet up there and the rock looked ideal for scrambling. A few years back I flew from Brevent towards Le Grand Bornand with Bob Drury. I couldn't make the climb onto the Aravis and landed in the Bonneville valley. Look forward to seeing your 4000ers film ☺

I might be wrong but the French might call scrambling “Rando vertige” or “Topo rando”

Sad to see how much those glaciers have thinned since I was last there in the mid-90's. That was a lovely walk you video'ed Rob, thanks!

It was watching paragliders over Chamonix when I was about 10 that made me want to learn. One day I will fly Chamonix. Great video

Yes it’s one of the places that inspired me to learn too.

What a stunning place to have to yourself! The views were amazing, even without the drone! I'd love to visit there one day so thanks for sharing it with us all. One day I will learn how to paraglide and save my knees the trouble of hiking back down lol (WHEN THE WIND ALLOWS)...I'd be cursing all the way back down if the wind scuppered my flight lol.

It’s such a stunning place isn’t it and a real treat to enjoy in peace and quiet. Luckily the light on my walk down was lovely and I got to see more Ibex and Marmot so I didn’t mind the walk. I was sad to miss dinner though 😀

Hi Dave, great to hear about your adventure - sounds like a lovely thing to do. Yes the Gribin would definitely be a friendlier option with less commitment. Have a good one 😀👍

Hi Rob, doing a walk in August with my son from Idwal Cottage to Beddgelert taking in the Glyders, Snowdon and Yr Aran, stopping overnight at Pen Y Pass...am thinking Y Gribin will be a better bet than the north ridge of Tryfan for his first proper outing...came back to this gem of a video to help make my mind up as have never done Gribin...what do you think, is Gribin slightly less daunting than Tryfan? Hope all's good, Dave.

New subscriber I’m almost lost for words. When you said “ and see if we can fly off the top “ or words to that effect I thought did I just hear that right ? Fly off the top ? And yes I heard right. Absolutely incredible. Stunning photography and just all around amazing. What a beautiful view over Rannoch Moor. The flight down blew me away.

Another great video Rob. How does your Kode P compare to your single skin in terms of pack size and weight?
@RobJohnsonАй бұрын
It weighs about 300g more and the pack size is very similar. For me it is well worth that little bit of extra weight for the extra performance that it gives me - mainly in terms of wind penetration.

12:10 Soloed Curved Ridge myself back in the day with a total novice, Hayden Morgan. Being 19 years old we were a bit over optimistic, we followed the mountain top ridge down towards Glen Etive and then climbed back up Bidean Nam Bian and descended Ant Srion back home to the Glencoe Outdoor Centre (BIG ROUTE PLAN!!!). Thanks 🙏👍 for your exquisite film, brought it all back.
