Great video, what software/device have you used to record the speed and Gforce?
@RMspeedfreak3 жыл бұрын
Hi - I use a 'Performance Box' from Racelogic to capture the GPS data - and then link this with my video footage from a pair of 'iSAW' cameras (GoPro type) using the 'Race Render' software downloaded from their US website. This gives me the equivalent of the Racelogic 'Video V Box' type setup for a fraction of the cost.

Cool driving. Those cones don't look very visible. I got a chance to drive one of these at Autodromo Nazionale Monza. The track there is insane! You only need to really slow down at turn 1.

love that Ferrari GTO 250 and the f40
@RMspeedfreak8 жыл бұрын
Hi Chris - I have never been that close to a 250GTO before - and it was stunning. The F40 along with the 275GTB are my 2 other favourite Ferrari's - and there were 3 of the F40's at the show! At current prices they would go for £1m each...If only i had that kind of money 'spare' - but i would have to take it to Donington Park and Brands GP - and see how well it went. None of this investment crap of parking it up in an air-conditioned storage facility somewhere....Makes my blood boil !! RM ;)

@RMspeedfreak8 жыл бұрын
Thanks - yes - this was the first time I have been able to try it out - and it works pretty well doesn't it! Would be very tricky to get 2 cameras on a shoulder mounting to be able to do the same thing at Buckmore though....which is a shame - because there is often as much action behind as in front - and it would be pretty cool looking back down the hill etc. RM ;)

the track has gone all paul ricard blue
@RMspeedfreak8 жыл бұрын
Yes - they have had a 'freshen up' with new blue tech-pro barriers instead of tyres - and lots of red paint on tarmac instead of the old grass-crete for 'track limits' infringement zones beyond the curbs/white lines. Looks quite smart actually. New decent sized session countdown clock at start/finish line too that you can actually read - after the old one was trashed by a direct hit from lightning! RM ;)

Glad it wasn't a wet track, that would have made an "interesting" drive seeing as it looks as though the front wheels are on the wrong way round, check the tyre tread at 0:11 ;-)

I noticed that on the fronts of the black/orange Atom too! (rears were ok) However - I was in the black/white car - and all tread patterns were correct. Either they were trying to eek out a few more laps on worn rubber - or got L & R mixed up!! Good spot though matey! RM ;)

@RMspeedfreak9 жыл бұрын
Thanks Niz - and yes it was frustrating - but perhaps I caught the shiny bit of the circuit you scrubbed so smooth with that massive 4 wheel lock-up before collecting Lynda?! ;)You should have settled for 2 overtakes on 1 straight mate - and tucked in front of Alistair for the chicane. I just hope it doesn't keep Lynda out for too long. If it had been me - that would have been my first and last race weekend this year - as I am racing on a total shoestring - and can't afford accident damage like that. Please bear that in mind - we are only 'club racing' after all - and cars and drivers should not be getting hurt doing it. You have certainly got some speed and car control skill - you just need to calm it down a bit mate - and think moves through - not just react on instinct/adrenaline! With the Clerk of the Course being examined that weekend - I think you were very lucky not to get points on your race licence.Hopefully see you at Donny. Just not close enough to swap paint please! Kind regards, RM ;)
@adelphisantos9 жыл бұрын
lol! First, my comment was not meant as a critique. I just felt bad for you that you spun on the last corner. I hope you took it that way. As for whether I should calm down or not, I think if you look at my footage, I was very calm. It was a calculated move that went wrong because 1) I missed my braking point and 2) My wheels locked (i.e. I hit the brakes too hard). Lynda was just in the wrong place and at the wrong time. The Clerk correctly identified that and disqualified me for avoidable contact. It wasn't a reckless or dangerous move, just one of those things. There should be no contact in any form of racing and I don't intend on ruining anyone's race, least of all my own! I'll try and keep away from you at Donny, unless you're in front of me of course... ;)
@RMspeedfreak9 жыл бұрын
Your comments are taken in good spirit Niz - and hopefully you will take mine the same way - but have you actually looked at your own videos mate?! You are so hyped-up in the car that you periodically hop in the seat like a jack-rabbit.....which doesn't indicate being 'very calm' to me. Also - I have played back the run into Brook several times - and if you genuinely believe that that was a 'calculated move' that went wrong - I would be very worried. When you pulled out to go up the inside of Alistair you were actually already passing the 100m board - and a full car length behind Lynda's rear bumper at full throttle. There is NO WAY you were EVER going to be able to make up 2 car lengths, get your braking and gear change done and make the corner on such a tight approach line to be able to overtake her into Brook. In fact - if she hadn't been there - I think you would probably have locked-up anyway - and gone straight on - and Alistair would have got his position back. It WAS a dangerous move - because you T-boned another car - and with those horrible rounded raised 'sausage' kerbs at Brook you could have quite easily flipped Lynda's car into a roll - and that could have been very nasty indeed. Watch the footage on slow-mo and hopefully you will see what I am saying. It was a lot worse than when Albert hit you in Race 2 (you can see the nose of his car in your passenger door window before there is contact - so he had much more overlap as you hit Linda's rear wheel) - and your comment there was that he made a 'silly move really that was never going to work'. Think about it. Regards, RM ;)
@adelphisantos9 жыл бұрын
RMspeedfreak I think I finally know why you think my move was dangerous. You're under the false assumption that I was trying to overtake two cars going into Brook chicane. This of course is suicidal and was not what I was trying to do. I was attempting an overtake on Alastair only. I managed to out brake him and by definition that means braking later but I pushed my brake pedal too hard and caused my front wheels to lock and hence not slow down enough for me to make the corner. It just so happens that Lynda was there. Wrong place wrong time. This happens all the time in motor racing. Albert's move was silly because he was trying to go for a gap that was not there, there was no room for him. Even if he made it, he would have been on the outside for Turn 2 so what was the point? My move was different because Alastair left a gap which I went for. I got it wrong. Would I do it again? Yes of course but will brake fractionally earlier and probably in a lower gear. To say it was reckless or dangerous is just wrong. Whilst I respect your opinion as a fellow racer, it's not the first time and I'm sure it won't be the last when two racing drivers have differing opinions on a race incident.

How did you get the map/speed/second cam over the video? Very good video!

BTW: how did you get the track map to work?
@RMspeedfreak10 жыл бұрын
I downloaded Race Studio 2 - imported the data from Sports Agenda into that - and then exported in CSV file format into Race Render! Bit of a pain - but it worked even when laps looked scrambled direct from Sports Agenda - and the file sizes were noticeably bigger from RS2. You need to be careful not to export all the laps though - especially if there are any rogue ones - or GPS trails from walking around the pits, etc when not in the kart - as that can throw the track map into a total tail spin....and Race Render times out or crashes trying to work out what is going on! Happy to discuss next time we meet - but give it a go and i'm sure you will suss it. Use an old data file you are sure is not corrupt for testing it out though! Regards, Rick ;)
@AndrewTempest10 жыл бұрын
You obviously had more success with your MyTach than I did. Although it was working fine on the day and displaying lap times, my stored data was corrupt. There was nothing stored for the practice and the race started at lap 16! The track map was also all over the place. I've had this happen a couple of times before but hopefully it'll be OK next time.

Yes - it looks like a really good bit of software - and very easy to suss out how to use. Have seen an example vid on their site using data from an AIM gps camera - so don't think you will have any problem importing the datalogging file from your watch - then it's pretty easy to sync the start/finish line with the video footage - and away you go. RM ;)
