Hi Greg great video. Would this system remain the same cabling etc with just one solar panel and one battery? Thanks

Any more news Greg, did you get it sorted?
@taronerojay5213Күн бұрын
Hi Greg, hope all is well. I (almost) finished my van and also did some great tours, thanks to your help. Couldn't have done it without your videos. I want to hide the heating ducts in the front though and seen that you build a little step behind the front seats. Have you got a video on building that step as well? All the best

can anyone expalin on the chart for cable size how he got to 10mm2 . i think im missing something. we have 4 usb sockets at 12.4 amps, 8 lights at 1.2 amps. added together is 13.6 amps. o how does it work on the chart? It has a section saying number of cables... is that 3-4 cables as the fuse box has 2 possitive and 2 negative. this would be 18 amps making it on the insulated cable calculations a 2.5mm2 cable??? clearly im missing something.. anyone help me? unless every cable from light to light and USB to USB is counted. this makes a total of... 9 for the USB and 17 for the lights. total of 26. in the insulated chart part that makes it a 6mm2 cable and he would have gone 1 up.... to 10mm2... is this the answer anybody? Thanks greg anyway if you read this... always great videos..

Hi, ❤️ the video. I have this kind of setup in my cabin and was wondering if I could incorporate a battery charger into the system permanently. So as I run my 2.7kw honda petrol generator for either the Lawnmower or toaster it can give some free Ah to the battery? (130ah snappy battery with calcium tech - as seen on ebay)

Another comment as it is referred to another point: what if the system had 2 or 3 100A Lithium batteries instead? Thanx again (PS: I'm considering going gas-free on my van to use induction in the kitchen)
@pierfrancescomacchivideoma79534 күн бұрын
Hello hello and thanx for this video. A quick thought: where would you plug the Mains Battery Charger when plugged into the mains? surely not the Renege inverted as would pull from the batteries to charge them creating a loop I guess.. I so I believe you'd plug it directly from the mains but then.. if you switch on the engine while still plugged to the Mains there will be 2 power sources charging the batteries (unless if the Mains Battery Charger is not manually turned off) or still, energy coming from the solar panels during the day with engine off thanks to the specific Renege DCDC. What would be the solution in this case? Normally I think a Relé (that's how I call it here in Italy; an electromechanical switch that automatically feel the tension coming and so it switches). Hope I was clear enough :D thanks for you time

months and lost track of hours. I always thought well dc power isnt good over a distance, why are people using it over such big distances, surely if i just put my fusebox in the place i need it, that'll be cheaper, neater and more efficient. Then came along greg, installing electrics, in the exact way i thought you could do it. Coming here any time i am stuck with my builds from now on!

Thanks Greg! This is my go-to video to remind me how to set up simple wiring for our old farm tractor (applicable to quads and side-by-sides) since I don't need relays for any of the "loads" (lights, etc).

Excellent video and experiment. Before you said let's take the insulation off and see if any condensation has occurred on the insulated side. I was thinking to myself oh yeah it will be sweating on the other side too. But we'll done for showing this video. Nice one.

Hi Gregg, I’ve currently got a truma boiler and I’m ready to plumb in to my kitchen tap. It’s a pre built unit and has a hot n cold mixer tap so taps and pipes are in place, however I’ve noticed there’s a micro switch. If I already have a big pump like the one you’ve put on here do I need the micro switch? Thanks

If the wiring that comes with the light I am wiring in is only tiny 2.5mm squared doesn’t that make using 0.75 mm squared wire pointless?

What if you make a mistake and leave a small hole somewhere in the barrier, would the vapour get in there and condense against the cold metal then, because of this, lower the volume of water in the air and so draw more moisture in? This is my worry. I imagine that this could cause more and more water to eveutually build up behind the taped in foil which would not easily escape. Can you put my mind to rest on this? Should I be alowing air to cirulate behind the barrier? Do I need to avoid scealing off cells that may trap in water?

Hi Gregg, is this system man enough to run a 12v fridge ? And can you piggy back the usb sockets as to have more than one or is it case of needing a bigger fuse box ?

thanks greg im confused but what i see you doing in this video is if the bucket outer skin is the inside of van then you have the fluffy insulation on the inside skin of van and the silver lining over fluffy stuff..how are you supposed to install that in van .normally you would stick silver lined foam rubber on inside wall then fluffy insulation over that or doesnt it matter which way it goes
