The internal boiler pump, Grundfos UPS 15-78, seems to be very capable based on the performance curve. If I keep the supply and return CH separated (by not using a primary/secondary manifold) while providing radiant floor heat to a 2,400 sqft shop, do you think it's possible to run the system just using the internal pump, or is a second circulation pump necessary?

The pump 1 and pump 2 connections on the board are 120V outputs? So a groundfos 15-58 can be direct wired to those two outputs? Mine is a 1 zone so in my case I can use the pump one sport to run the 15-58 pump? Thank you

The question was asked in class about the PVC exhaust temp limiter when using high temp baseboard heaters in a cold climate (Northern Minnesota). WIll this effectively heat the 1,900 ft2 home with the PVC vent limiter modulation? In the video it was said you'd look into that. Thanks - great video!

So, i am replacing an old non condensing boiler. It had one circulator going into the system. Because of the condensing boiler, with a circulator above the closed tee, it will still need a circulator going away from the boiler?

It all depends on how your system is run. If you were to install a condensing combo boiler, there will only need to be 2 pumps on your system. One of the pumps will be to pump water through the primary loop of the boiler (a pump that pumps water through the heat exchanger inside the boiler heating up the water) and a pump for the secondary loop (pumping water to other appliances throughout the house).

I have a bran new 405, came built with a ice maker set up. They call it a Aqua Station. That being said, two days in a row the pump has over flowed, once it does, it then hit a wet switch and shut's the system down.

Mine indicates E393 error indicating DIP switch is OFF and outdoor temperature sensor disconnected. Is the performance of the unit affected without outdoor temperature sensor?

I would recommend you call Rinnai Tech Support at 1-888-746-6247 with the model and serial number. They will be able diagnose that specific error code for you.

Just put dip switch to on if you are not using outdoor sensor. Also after this unplug and plug back in.

Yes they describe as running a Ferrari with an outdoor sensor. Without it would be for a scenario as you age some older folk like it really hot inside even though it's like 70 outside.

SCALA 2 doesn't work with kitchen (or household) reverse osmosis water filters. It will detect a leak , or more like it will throw a leak warning. The pump will cycle all the time to due to low water input on the filter side. You have to count with that and how to solve it. Another thing is the click-clack of the check valve. It's better to put the pump where the sound won't bother.

Thank for your comment. The SCALA2 pump monitors pump starts, if the pump starts 40 times in a fixed pattern the pump will alarm ‘leakage in the system’ but will continue operation as normal if the anticycling parameter is selected to off. If the anticycling parameter is set to on, the pump would stop operation upon the 40 pump starts. The pump will cycle to maintain the pressure setpoint of the system, this will not harm the pump.

I know this very well. Researched it a lot. With RO ON the pump turns on every 5 to 10seconds, whjich I dont like. The pump is in operation for 6months I think. I turn the SCALA 2 off when I turn the valve ON on the RO filter. usually overnight, it has a 15L tank. So I am good for 2-3 days. I wonder if a pressure tank would help with lower than 1.25PSI if I remember correctly.

In front of the SCALA2 there is a 100L pressure tank which is loaded with a old fashioned pump from a well- 1.2-4bar. The Scala2 holds the pressure nicely in the house.
