Happy New Year Liz An inspiration to all of us, thank you. ☺️ Did you listen to Rambling’s this week (R4) ? Richard Shimell was walking with Claire Balding. I got 3 of his prints in 2020 during lockdown A friend gave me his new book (about himself & his work) for Christmas. So hearing him walk & talk was especially interesting to me. I thought you might enjoy it too, maybe. Keep on keeping on xx

What a wonderful way for me to be introduced to concertina bookmaking. Love it!! I have one question. Does the tape you used to start with has another function beside decorating?
@LizAckerley3 күн бұрын
Hi Barbara the tape I used is just masking tape-In the concertinas here it enables interesting patterns/marks through the seeping of the inks and it can also provide vertical /horizontal/angled elements in the composition. This general tape is so useful in the studio for all sorts of stuff including creating clean edges on work, attaching the paper to the wall, etc! I use it a lot.

I also used to have family holidays in that area so I know it well. I appreciated this video as I'm also about to move to a new area and I'm packing my studio ready to leave. I've been wondering how it will feel to live in a new place and to have a home based studio so I will take your advice and go slowly. There are times in life when we have lots to deal with and it sounds as if you're having one of those times Liz, hopefully walks by the sea with Lexi and taking things more slowly will be what helps you through.
@LizAckerleyАй бұрын
Ah interesting to hear of your family holidays too. I wasn't aware that you were moving Gill-It seems like quite a few of us are in the same boat. I have had a home-based studio of 2 1/2 years now and there are some advantages. You are right about us often having multiple things to deal with. I hope that your move is going well? are you moving far? Did you have a home studio before? Yes the walks by the sea are certainly providing a real tonic and time for reflection. Lexi loves the beach!

Thanks for your comments and I’m sorry the speed of the video didn’t work for you. The idea of these videos is to share my approaches in a bite size video. To place this at normal speed would make the video far too long . I do many of the videos so you would get a lot of instruction and understanding from watching a number of them.
