Thank you so much, Liz, for taking the time to answer my question! You've given me lots of good things to think about. I'm really good with taking photos so I need to look back through my camera roll. I also need to do more sketching on location rather than just relying on photos. Thank you for sharing your sketches at the end. The one in your sketchbook was wonderful!! 😊🥰

Hi Denise and I’m so glad that you saw this video and that it’s helpful. Yes making the most of explorations is the way to go! And work on location is really important as a way of connecting with our subjects and seeing more! The drawings are only half way through so I do hope you saw and heard the last 3 tips too! .

@@LizAckerley I sure did! I made a note of them. I'm kind of sad. The family farm was sold a couple of years ago. It would have made a series of paintings. I'm also thinking about the history of my area. The railroad was big here. I will keep working on it, but your video definitely helped!

Such helpful tips to narrow down ones thoughts Liz. I like the way you listen to others and make sure its relevant to everyone. This is a result how I notice you listen to others. You make a marvellous mentor for me both intellectually and creatively. I sometimes video where I'm at and hopefully find more by way of digging down further what caught my eye in the first place. I live in the suberbs of London. I miss the patina it had since London has been cleaned and looks more sterile in its place. However, I think your course helps me to find it elsewhere, like the allotment sheds.

Hi Leila thank you so much for your kind message - much appreciated and I’m so glad the video was helpful. They take me a long time and it’s important to me that they are useful so I really appreciate the feedback I get. You seem to be very good at digging deeper because you keep going with a subject and that’s important. I totally understand what you mean about the sterility of pristine places- and yes there is plenty of patina elsewhere.

Such a helpful and “spot on” list (love all your lists, Liz 😊). And had you listened to yourself originally regarding your ramshackles, look what might not have happened- they’re amazing! I’m writing this list out and putting it in view …thank you!

Thank you so much for your lovely comments Teresa. I often struggle with putting the videos together to say exactly what I want to say and they take me ages. Comments like yours are why I do it and what keeps me going- thank you! I am so glad that the list is useful. That is lovely to hear 😊

Have you any tips for when you don’t live near what inspires you. I live in the midlands and yet my inspiration always goes back to the seaside, and the holidays of my childhood, with seascapes playing a big part. I am very rarely able to visit the coast, and don’t want to rely on other peoples pictures. A dilemma!
@LizAckerley11 ай бұрын
Hi Fiona it sounds to me like your memories of those places are your inspiration. Perhaps you could try to create drawings/sketches in your sketchbook/on paper and collect images that reflect your memories of the place?
@fionawhitfield92511 ай бұрын
@@LizAckerley Thank you. That makes sense but isn’t easy. I need to be less self critical I think. Another idea for a video from you would be about the script you use in your sketchbooks. It is so aesthetically pleasing. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
